I think that it's illegal because if it wasn't illegal, non-prostitues couldn't compete. Women know men don't want to put with their shit, and if prostitution was legal, then they really wouldn't have to. Porn is a poor substitute for the real thing.

Also, the govenment has to protect women, because they have so little power over their own lives they need the government to protect them out there in the "big bad world." Even though they keep proclaiming that they are equal in every way. Makes you think............getting to keep their cake and eat it too?

Porn = actors pay taxes, taxes on sale and distrubution, it is regulated.

Prostitution = two "amatures" banging in a back seat = no regulation (except in Nevada) and no tax collection.

Not even close - it was a California Supreme Court decision from 1988 - People v. Freeman. Obviously this only applies in that state, but since the overwhelming majority of porn is produced in CA it's not a problem. In other states you may run the risk of getting charged with pandering, not prostitution, because the producer is trying to induce the actors into performing.

+1

If it was that easy, all ho's would carry around a camcorder and ask the Johns if they want to star in a movie, and thus be legal.
