Excellent!
Below is the e-mail I sent to them: On behalf of the 80 million gun owners in this country, I thank you, Joe Oldham, for writing the June '04 article, "Guns and Butter" regarding your magazine's coverage of firearms technology. It seems the vast majority of mainstream media these days is controlled by Left-leaning, semi-socialists who have no appreciation for the true meaning of our precious Constitution and Bill of Rights. Bravo, Joe! chuckhammer Jupiter, Florida P.S. - Any chance of a historical/technical piece on Naval Artillery? |
Hail yes!
Really, I think that's a large part of the attraction to guns for me and many of us here: they are things of mechanical beauty. As a kid, I didn't grow up with guns, but I was always fascinated with mechanical functionality and things that were well-engineered. Guns, I think, are merely the next natural step. |
The only thing he could have done better is admit that he IS a gun nut. I am one and I'm very proud of that label!
Pretty good..
I'm suprised that some would expect a magazine dedicated to mechanical devices would ignore firearms. Most people with any mechanical interest knows that they are simply devices, just like a clock, or a sewing machine. To assign a label of 'bad' to them would be assigning emotional content to an inanimate object. |
Wow - I clicked on this thread fully expecting to read some left coast explanation of how guns are evil.
I'm very pleasantly surprised. I just might have to pick up a copy at the local news stand. |
Automobiles kill way more people than guns every year but you don't see people criticize articles about cars.

That's why I'm a suscriber. I've seen the Ed put this stuff down before in the rag. This month is an article on double shotties.
PM Rocks! |
Now if they's just get rid of that idiot Jim "Area 51 has moved" Wilson.
I think I need to make some Gun Advertisements in that magazine!

PM...
Good mag... Back when I was in Jr High, we had an art assignment to do a charcoal drawing from a photo... I chose PM's 'I fly the black jet' F117 cover (picture of a Nighthawk with the pilot standing in front |

Don't worry, thay have alot of anti writers too. I have several P.M.'s that have anti-gun articles in them.

Quote from Pighelmet:
Is that since this guy has become Editor??? |

i was at the barbershop a few months ago and picked up PM mag. i was suprised to see an advertisement for the new 500 S&W.
i thought it was interesting.... the article on the new Ford GT 500 was just as cool. |
But than he'd be selling out to you. |

I remember as a little kid reading the PM's that were in my grandfather's garage. I remember reading an ariticle about the M-16 and it stated what the MSRP was for a citizen to buy it. I remember thinking that I wanted to buy one when I was old enough and how cool it would be to own one. Who woulda thunk it?

Popular Mechanics is a great magazine. It's good to read an editor talking about "the right to keep and bear arms". They always catch shit about the issues on new boats when they have girls in bikinis pictured with the boats.
Uh, me too. And proud of it. Danny |

They do have small articles about certain firearms related topics every year. I can't remember all who have advertised in there, but Ruger has been the most visible advertiser in PM. They get anti letters all the time and sometimes print some of them along with the pro gun ones, (which far outnumber the anti ones).
Wow, I can't believe an editor of a large magazine would have the cajones to say that, but I'm damn sure glad he did. The time for passively standing by while we are criminalized is over. Its time to take back what is rightfully ours. Looks like I'll have to go get me a PM subscription as well

PM is a great mag.
here is the email i sent. Joe, just thought I would write you an email to protest your publishing of articles about cars. Cars have killed millions of people, and injured millions more. They will continue to kill until we finally ban cars. I'm particularly shocked about articles with fast cars, they are even more dangerous. Please dont publish any more articles on cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and most importantly bathtubs. Thank you very much, and please continue to include articles on firearms and military equipment. Both of which have kept our country free and safe for the past few hundred years.
