I know, this should be in tech. I don't care.

This is my fourth. Takes about a half hour.

The kit

The dremel, I don't use the end mill that is provided. The burr doesn't chatter like the end mill does, makes a very smooth finish.

I'm interested in these. A co worker did one also using a dremel and came out very nice. Cheaper way to go if you plan on fully customizing it
Link Posted: 1/28/2018 6:42:32 PM EDT
Interested too. Saw another post not so expensive. Tag for more info.

i can’t see how this is cheaper than a factory gun;
i understand not wanting 4473, but the
used market still seems cheaper

Not a big money savings, true.
Easily customizable, and for many, a much better grip angle/configuration.

This is almost 100% the reason for rolling your own. It isn't supposed to be cheaper. It's a way of telling the gov. to eat shit.

I just picked up the poly 17. Cool options on it. But I didn't like how large the grip is. There is a large gap behind the magwell. I love the design minus the fact that the grip seems larger than the factory frame.

If you don't have a holster yet, they don't fit G19 holsters. They are too wide right below the slide, but they fit in the large frame glock holsters for the 45 caliber ones. I like them, I fondled my buddy's last night.

There goes some money.

A post of mine from the Roland hate thread-

I'm building my own G17 race gun on the cheap in honor of this train wreck of a thread. I'll put it together when it all lands.

$170 for Polymer80 frame and parts. Custom looking frame for cheap.
$185 Brownells slide with RMR cut. Cheapest way to get forward serrations and rmr cut.
$90 Slide parts and recoil spring.
$300 RM06. Off the EE.

$0 spare lone wolf trigger parts
$0 spare barrel- Lone Wolf extended ported. Left over from another build.
$0 spare Streamlight TLR-2. It was an extra and can you have too many beams around!
$0 pile o mags. 10 rounders. CA sucks.
$0 Mag wells are ghey.
$0 bigass muzzle break weight. Becuase no threaded pistol barrels in CA.

$745 delivered for a tacticool ghost gun. Not too bad.

Frame kit was like $108 during black Friday deals.

Lower parts were like 50 bucks, I think.

Still need to pick up a slide for this one.

Just saw they are selling them completed/serialized if you don't want to make your own, I think Rainier Arms had an email about it. Just shot mine for the first time today and love it!

I should probably focus on picking up slides now

Need to find a 22lr slide for one.

I want the white one to be a star wars theme

Not sure on the other...

I think the trigger guard is wider too, so it still needs to be for the large frame glock. If it's too large, then heat the kydex and mash it down some.

Yes, grip angle on the Polymer 80 is much closer to a 1911.

I did mine with hand files for all of it.

I think it it took me two beers. Looks great, feels great, shoots great. No serial, no 4473. Big middle finger.

Check out their new 26 frames....they were awesome at range day at SHOT.

A word of warning, don't use an extended mag release. They stick way out on these frames. Standard one sticks out further than on a Glock frame

The grip angle of a Glock and a 1911 are nearly the same.
It’s the hump that throws people off.

I love doing p80s. Not exactly a cost saving measure, but it’s fun putting something together the exact way you want it to be.

Dremels are easier than drills. So are Xacto knives. Other than that, I see nothing wrong with what you posted. Buy .40 slides, they can be converted up and down.

Hoist the black flag and play the song of victory, you just have the finger to the government!

If you are satisfied with buying a used Glock just to own an OEM/factory Glock then I guess these aren’t for you. If you want a do it yourself semi, to fully custom pistol, that functions like and has the reliability of a Glock then these are for you.
