This has been a Primary and General Election process unlike any I've ever seen. This is so for a number of reasons, but the most salient of which is the very high negative ratings of both major-party candidates. I believe this factor, as well as some others, makes polling in the traditional manner very much suspect, and so much less reliable than they would be in a more "normal" election.
As is well known, one of the main goals of any political party is to suppress opposition turn-out, and increase turn-out for one's own candidate. It should come as no surprise that the Dems are mounting a full-on effort to diminish Republican enthusiasm, and turn-out, by a variety of means, including having paid, trained operatives infiltrate various internet communities. Perhaps even Arfcom.
It is also true that the major polls of voter sentiment do NOT "sharpen-up" until the last two weeks or even the last week before the election. One of the main reasons for this is that the polling companies (and the Press, in general) have a vested interest in generating a sense of the election being a real horserace, and in so doing, selling more ads and papers, etc..
All of the above taken into consideration, it is my personal observation that it is up to each and every one of us to NOT fall prey to subtle psychological influencing. It is VITAL that each and every one of us get out and VOTE, as well as trying as hard as possible to get other, like-minded folks to vote as well.
Hillary would LOVE it if her opponents were so dispirited as to remain at home on Election Day.
Don't be "That Guy".
Submitted for your consideration.
