I couldnt find the poll, but I did write a nice note to the editor! [RED]You seem to have left out the exhaustive background check and the 60 to 90 day waiting period for issuance. You make it sound like one sits through the two hour course, proves proficiency and is issued a permit on the spot. While youre at it why not check your statistics on crimes comitted by permit holders? (Hint) its almost nonexistant![/RED]

NO, because more training should be required... AZ has a good set up IMHO. There were people in my class (it was 4hrs, did something change ?) who knew dick about pistols and all they had to do was watch a video. They were a danger to themselves. It should be required that a level of proficiency with a pistol be demonstrated.* More training should be required, the paper work and and background stuff is fine the way it is. *It's not required that you shoot (though the local SD makes you shoot when you take the CCW class.) This is kin to watching 4hrs worth of video and verbal instruction and then being handed a drivers license.

Ah yes, require a "proficiency test" to exercise your rights. After that it is a simple matter to raise the requirements until no one can pass. Exceptions for police and .gov, of course... Poorly reasoned Grasshopper.

Done! The paper makes it seem like any felon or burglar can just go down and get the permit, very biased in my opinion.
