How often do you have the chance to fly in a Mustang?
How often do you have the chance to buy a gun?
How often do you have the chance to save?

I'd save it, but I'm kinda cheap like that.

Cheers!

Riding in a P51 won't get outlawed after/if Clinton is elected. I think that memories are more important than posessions, but if you think about it you can do both in due time.

I'd buy a gun.  But flying is not a real thrill for me.  So, the $1,000+ for a 30 minute flight isn't worth it to me.

I am tempted to spend the $400 or so for a flight on a B-24 or B-17.

The Mustang, of course.

But if I were paying that much for the ride I would want it to be in a P-51D so I could see everything going on around me, not sitting in the back of a B/C looking out the little port holes on the side.

I wanted to do the Mustang but just couldn't spend the money.  I went with the SNJ/Texan instead and loved every minute of it.  Got to fly most of the time as well.  DO IT!

P51/B29/B17 rides etc.  if you've never been before.

If I was younger, I'd choose the ride...but with several episodes of vertigo in the past, probably not a good idea.

Besides, they don't carry live rounds.

A mustang ride would be awesome, I have been around P51Ds and there are three questions to ask before you get into the rear seat:
1.  On many P-51D, the pilot seat has to unlatch and tilt forward before you can exit?  This means the pilot has to exit before you can get out.  This is important after a crash.
2.  Our P51D had a really uncomfortable canvas rear seat, very spartan gauges (I'm unsure I could land from the rear).  Also my helmet hits the canopy back there.
3.  The radiator is below the canvas jump seat, it gets really warm at low altitudes.

I would do the P-51!

P-51. How is this even a question?

P-51. It's something you'll remember and cherish long after the fun and excitement of a new gun has long worn off.

Flying in a P-51 is on my bucket list. I flew in a AH-1 cobra a few years ago and it was worth every penny.

If you want to have a record of the flight, I suggest signing up for CloudAhoy. Download the app to your phone and start it when you get settled in the cockpit.

This is me getting ready for my check ride.  https://www.cloudahoy.com/debrief/?key=dx13St37TCkg

Guns will be here.   Rides in a P51 will only get more rare.   Take the ride.

It wasn't a P51, but $100 for two of us to take a ride in an open cockpit biplane was some of the best money I've ever spent.

You have chosen - wisely.

I've flown in and actually flown a lot of vintage aircraft and all of those flights will remain in my memory as a treasure not to be forgotten.

I thought the P-51 rides are more like $3300?   I think that's for a full hour.
If I was in a position to pay for a Mustang ride and not have to worry about what else I might be needing that $3300 for I would.

OP did not say what sort of gun he wanted, that was equal in orice to the P-51 ride.

My dad has taken some flights on warbirds as part of his bucket list. The experience is far more rewarding than a material object like a firearm.

If you have the means, go for the ride.
