Poll coming
Well sure. The sooner this shit crashes, the better we'll be able to start from fresh.
Sure. Why not? We'll all troop off to the polls next election and vote straight (R).
The alternative would be [shudder]. |
Giving people free shit is the other parties game, not ours.
No.
But they should push for legalization of MJ and rip a few other plank platforms out from under the D party. |
That'll sure encourage schools to control their prices and students to control their spending!
Dumbest fucking poll with the easiest fucking answer I've seen in a long time.
I'm on track to graduate without taking a single loan. If others don't have the minimal intelligence required to financially plan this sort of thing in advance, let them live in poverty.
Hopefully we'll know ahead of time if this is going to happen so I can take out a huge student loan and spend it all on Colt, LaRue and Trijicon products.
What the hell?
OP: Please tell me you pulled this poll from thin air and that there aren't any Rs actually proposing this. |
I paid of what debt I collected as well as served in the military for my GI Bill.
Fuck that noise |
Hell no.
Go after the stoner and gay vote by all means but the "free shit" angle should never be on the conservative platform. Republicans literally only needed 1% of the vote for the election result to be dramatically different. |
Not until after I sign up for a couple hundred thousand in student loans.
Quoted: Poll coming Exactly who are these "Republicans" that have so much unfettered power that they can decree such a thing? |

No and who the fuck is going to pay for it? Are the banks going to "do the right thing" and just take it out of their "evil profits?"

No. But they should push for legalization of MJ and rip a few other plank platforms out from under the D party. Thisness. |
sure remove the burden from them so they can go on to get credit that can be used to leverage business growth and be able to pay more taxes than the loans were originally for. It would be a great trade off.
They would never again get a paying customer for any college.
Fuck no. If you can't afford to pay it off, you are spending too much money on a degree that will earn you too little income. Find a better paying career, go to a less expensive school, or work your way through if you dont want to pay off loans.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. some one, some where has to pay for it.

Sure. Why not. Let's kick this descent into hell into overdrive!
FYI..40 years old, and paid off my student loan a few months ago. CVN |

Bribery is no way to run a country. Ask any third world shithole how well it works out.

Make the loans dischargeable in bankruptcy. This. And get the government out of the loan business. |

It would be a great trade off. ETA: college should be free for anyone who maintains a 3.0 and is in a field of commerce ( engineering, comupter science, Md, RN, accounting, machining, etc... things we need you know) we don't charge for grade school or high school, why should we charge for college? Lets do the math. all kids go to grade school for the most part, probably the most expensive thing there (more elementary schools than colleges or HS in this country. Most kids go to high school, ther are fewer high schools than elementary schools but they are bigger facilities. Most people do not go to college. So we are not paying for as many people in college as we are in grade school. Further the cost per student should be less at the college level since the teacher/student ratio is much larger ( had classes with a couple hundred students to one teacher, whereas only 20-30 per teacher in gradeschool). Also the cost benefit analysis would show that someone's education through college would yield a person who's increased earning capacity and tax paying capacity far exceeds what it cost to get them there. I would say it is more expense to pay only through highschool and leave students without skills needed to succed in a career. get the a BA/BS JD md, rn, or have them learn a technical skill and it will pay dividends over just a HS diploma for not much more cost than has already been spent. (sorry if it rambles, as i am typing it while trying to look busy at work.) |
If they do, they owe me over 13k. That's was my debt from my student loans, and that's exactly what I repaid. I repaid it before I bought a house, car, etc... or any other toy.
Wait, if there's a chance of having student debt forgiven, I need to know a few years in advance. I'm going to get a couple of expensive college years in since I'm working and paying my own way right now.

Quoted: Quoted: Make the loans dischargeable in bankruptcy. This. And get the government out of the loan business. That part is over in the US. The .gov is going to now get into everything. Everything. You know why? The American people want it. Welcome to the new world. |

Quoted: Quoted: Make the loans dischargeable in bankruptcy. This. And get the government out of the loan business. That. Student loans and grants are subsidies. Like all subsidies, they distort the market. |
Why stop there?
Why not forgive all debt, everywhere in the world! Why not equalize all income! Open the borders! Not just legalize drugs and end the WOD, but "Free Weed For Everyone"! If they are going to pander, why not go all the way and change their name from "Republican" to "The Even More Free Shit Parade Party", or just be honest and stamp a hammer and sickle over the elephant and call themselves Communists? |
Easy to see who has the college loans out.

That'll sure encourage schools to control their prices and students to control their spending! Yep. Tuition will skyrocket faster than it has been, which is saying a lot. The youth vote would be too stupid to take up anything that will actually benefit it anyway. Too much feel-good sentiment that is fostered in our education systems. Besides, as long as the Republican party has its Akins, it won't stand a chance. |
Brilliant we should cancel out all mortgage and cc debt too. That should put plenty of faith in those that hold US Bonds.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but agreeing to a 'loan' means you will 'pay it back'.
Be like writing me a check for $45k.
Fuck it. Working for money is overrated. Gimme mah free shit! |

Fuck that noise. I paid mine back by age 30. I did without fun things to pay mine back early too. If they just drop people loans I'm gonna be pissed. |
