I support the 1st as strongly as the 2nd.  The pen is indeed sometimes mightier than the sword.  Control of the pen can equate to control of the sword.

The first amendment is sacred to our country.  There is no way it goes to far.  What we need is sensible legislation to limit hate speech in this country.  I can not believe that the forefathers put the first amendment in the constitution so we could all go around insulting each other.  It is finally time to act responsibly and help end hate speech.  This is the only way we can truly have freedom, including freedom from Prejudice.

I would like to know the precice questions asked to the repondents. You never know then the news media types will interpret "I think that the media shouldn't criticize the government/millitary as much during the war on terrorism" as "I think the Government should prevent the media from criticizing Government activities". The difference is somewhat subtle, but critically important. I have no trouble believing that the difference goes right over the heads of most reporters. There is also precedent for certain organizations using creative poll questions and interpretation to imply that the American people think something that they don't.

Its not just racism, its also political affliations and Religious groups. Its called prejudice. The vast right-wing conspiracy is contantly at work to defame you.

Would you not agree that people who hate Communists are misinformed about the benefits of such an economic system? Or in the least a Socialist-Democratic one. What better way then to protect proper checks and balances then a Socialist Economy? When these corrupt CEO's get out of hand, it is the govt that steps in to save the day.

You are right to a point.  People who hate communist are probably misinformed, as the average communist is just like you or me.  As for a socialist economy, I've never seen one work properly, as for our free economy I had that working fine until GW stepped in.  Even if we have communists in America, does that make it alright to treat them with prejudice?  I don't think your first amendment protects that, do you?  There is a need in todays society to limit what hate speech people can use on other people.
