Noam Chomsky isn’t hopeful. When asked about the “Is is OK to punch a Nazi” meme the NY Times and other fake news outlets circulated, Chomsky replied via email:

The Chomsky quote is just one tiny part of the article, for those who haven't read it.

The entire article has a pretty good take on things. The media ignored or even condoned violence against the right.

When the right fought back, everyone put on their shocked face and suddenly started whining about "street violence".

On one hand, the continuing hypocrisy pisses me off. On the other hand, I'm laughing at how they thought skinny leg jeans wearing hipsters that weigh a buck-oh-five and girls with chronic fish-mouth syndrome were going to measure up to blue collar people that have worked hard for their entire adult life. The disparity in physical size is notable in almost every video.

The only way to win that game is to make sure there's not enough of them left to vote.

I don't think many of us have the stomach for that kind of "political violence" but the other side has a long history of very efficiently doing exactly that.

National Socialists in Germany, Soviet Socialists in Russia, Chinese Communists, a dozen more small countries. And if you think they aren't talking about it here too, you're delusional. It doesn't take too much work to find professors and activists (the kind of folks whose rhetoric becomes party policy a decade later - like Obama's mentor) discussing exactly that in interviews.

Do you consider political support of views contrary to your own to be justification for violence? Because they do. Just keep in mind who's supporting the violence with their votes and dollars and words... and H yard signs. Just because they didn't throw the molotovs or pull the trigger doesn't make your neighbors innocent. Keep that in mind.

But if you insist we do fight back, we need to make it very clear who started it, even more clear than it was in Berkeley. No violence or retaliation for the first hour or two, then after they cross the "line" unleash hell, would be a powerful message, stop it, stop it, now you've done it!

They are better organized and better prepared mentally. They have been talking about killing off conservatives and white men for years. On the left it isn't nut jobs in their mother's basements talking about it, it is professors and the politically connected. The last two democratic presidential candidates were connected to people who publicly called for mass murder and no one cared. For the left promoting genocide is no longer taboo they don't even lose their jobs when caught.

They are behind us when it comes to weapons but becoming competent with a weapon doesn't take long. We may have them beat when it comes to with weapons for now but that doesn't mean shit if you aren't willing to use them.
