Police raided wrong home, opened fire
DeKalb County police internal affairs is investigating an incident in which a Cumming man was shot at by a DeKalb officer when police entered his home looking for another suspect.
James Cecil Sosebee, 62, said Forsyth County and DeKalb officers came into his home about 2 a.m. on Nov. 6.
"They didn't knock," Sosebee said. "The first thing I knew they were in my living room."
He said he thought it was a prowler and grabbed a deer rifle he keeps by his bed. "They yelled, 'Police officers, police officers, put the gun down!' " said Sosebee. "But a burglar could yell that." At some point one of the officers opened fire.
Sosebee said there are nine bullet holes in the wall of his bedroom.
DeKalb and Forsyth police could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
Forsyth County has dropped aggravated assault charges against Sosebee, who was arrested and held for about 12 hours.
