Pretty self explanatory. I have no idea whats going on outside but there is a police car on almost every corner and I heard the helicopter a few minutes ago.

Had that going about 3 months ago.. North Austin... 3 helioclopters with searchlights going round and round for about an hour. Got on the scanner, they were looking for a man with a gun, shots fired, around Walnut Creek Park.

ETA.. whatever happens, don't let them fuckers impede your foot traffic...

That's quite a bit further north than I am.

A couple months ago we had a shooting in the alley behind our garage. Drug deal gone bad or something. I don't think they ever pinned the shooting on the guy that did it, but the detective who talked to us was pretty confident he knew who did it.

Scanner apps suck. Most are linked into the radioreference feeds which are prohibited from broadcasting tac/surveillance traffic. Get a real one and really hear what's going down (provided it's not encrypted).

Okay, I'll bite. Wife and I had a heated discussion about this earlier.

We have been blessed with a son and a daughter. Both are still under five years of age.

After watching the Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight saga unfold (three women who were kidnapped and held hostage ten years), I can't stop looking at my little girl and thinking about how utterly terrifying it is to think of her growing up in this world. My wife says I'm being biased and should feel the same about my boy and to an extent I do. I don't want the world to hurt him either, but my little girl is my little girl. To think of some sadistic asshole stealing and harming her makes me want to go ahead and pencil in a nervous breakdown before she even cuts her first tooth.

So, am I wrong to feel that way about my daughter? To worry more about her and what's out there than I do for my boy?
