Police: Woman Found Dead Had Secret Life In Porn
Kansas Student Emily Sander Performed As 'Zoey Zane'
EL DORADO, Kan (CBS News) ― A body found in Kansas appears to be that of a missing college student who led a secret life as an Internet porn star, police said Thursday.

Authorities said the preliminary physical description of the body found about 50 miles east of El Dorado matches that of missing college student Emily Sander.

Sander, 18, was last seen leaving a bar with a man who has been the focus of a nationwide search since police found large quantities of blood in a Kansas motel room where he was staying.

Investigators have not yet found a link between a missing college student and her activities as an online porn star named Zoey Zane, but publicity about her explicit photos has brought a flood of tips, many of them false leads.

Before she vanished, nude photos of Sander appeared on various Web sites. The national publicity surrounding her double life kept phones ringing continuously at the El Dorado police station.

"No tips were generated from it," Boren said.

The police chief said the publicity was unlikely to help.

"We did talk to the lady that operates the site. We didn't find any viable connection with this main suspect at this point," he said.

Sander, who attended Butler Community College, was last seen Friday leaving the bar with Israel Mireles, 24. Authorities are looking for him and his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend.

The rental car Mireles was driving was found abandoned Tuesday in Vernon, Texas, where he has relatives. Investigators interviewed family members and planned to bring the vehicle back to Kansas for processing.

"We feel they know where he is at, but they haven't shared that with us," Boren said.

On Thursday, searchers on foot and all-terrain vehicles were checking the tall grass along each side of Highway 54 near Neal, Kan., as they traced the route Mireles may have taken Saturday on the way to Baxter Springs to pick up his girlfriend.

So far searches using dogs, planes, underwater equipment and divers at the Walnut River dam have yielded no new evidence.

"We have about exhausted a lot of the resources we have until we can focus on a particular area," Boren said.

Dozens of people gathered Wednesday in El Dorado for a candlelight vigil for Sander. The turnout moved her grandfather, Clement Sander, who said Emily Sander's disappearance shows tragedy can suddenly strike anyone.

"All I can say to you young folks out there is be careful," he said. "It is a cruel world."

They've been saying that since he ditched the car in TX, they think he was on his way to Mexico.

18-year-old Emily Sander was a college student from Kansas who was missing for nearly a week after Thanksgiving weekend. She was last seen leaving a bar in El Dorado, Kansas about 30 miles from Wichita, with a man identified by police as Israel Mireles, 24 years old, authorities said. El Dorado police found evidence of foul play after entering Mireles' hotel room where he was living. A nationwide hunt went on to find Emily. Emily was a beautiful, young spunky girl - 5'3" at 105 pounds. She had shoulder length brown hair and blue eyes that could light up the room. She had just started college and was looking forward to getting her degree so she could move back home to Texas where all her friends and family were. Sadly, Emily's body was found 50 miles East of where she was last seen with Mireles, on Thursday, November 29, 2007 around 2:30pm near Toronto Lake in Kansas. Emily's life ended too soon. Her case was quickly updated to a homicide, and a nationwide manhunt is now under way for Mireles and his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend, who both started on the run just after Emily's disappearance, known to be heading South. Mireles was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus rental car, which turned up Tuesday, November 27 in Texas, just near where he had family. Authorities believe that he is either trying to cross the Texas border to Mexico, or have already crossed the border. He also has family ties in Mexico.

It truly saddens us to see, in this day and age, that we still live in a society that ridicules a women for doing something that is completely legal. There was some incorrect information leaked to the press yesterday by a unknown individual named "David Thomas" claiming to have information about Emily's "Porn" career. We want to set the record straight. Emily was a solo nude model whose site went live September,25 2007. She was exactly that - a solo girl. There was no interaction between Emily with any Male. It was just Emily, her fun loving personality, and the camera. We decided, a day before the media reports came out about Emily's "porn" career, to take down her website out of respect to Emily and Emily's family. We were unaware if Emily's family knew of the site and didn't want to add any unneeded stress or burden to them. The last thing we wanted was for her case to turn into a "missing porn star" case, which is exactly what the media turned it in to, which sadly took away the focus of Emily's disappearance and the importance of finding Isreal Mireles.



If you have any information of the whereabouts of Isreal Mireles, please call El Dorado Police at 316-321-9120. Please do not call the police unless you have direct information on this case, the police are working hard to track down Israel Mireles, and unnecessary calls only hinder their efforts.

again, parents would have played a significant role in her development.

if she was abused, (not the girls fault) the support and guidance of loving parents would have helped her shrug off a horrible experience and or at least put it into perspective and had a healthier lifestyle.

same for rape victims. while it is a horrible expierience, when put into perspective, with the propper guidance, rape or child molestation can make someone into a much STRONGER person and galvanize their life in positive ways.

Not to be a contrarian but the fact is that that internet porn or no, a teen putting her picture on the net is a BAD IDEA.  After sitting at the FBI digital forensics lab and listening to a lady who works social networking sites as a teen girl.... I'll break my daughters fingers before I let her put her photo on the web.  There are some horrendous stories that were told and none of the girls in them were working in porn.  

Know what the hell your kids are doing online folks....  The story she told of the little girl that was followed home and snatched right out of her seat while chatting with other people sent chills down my spine.

in many states 16 is legal. my home state of michigan is one of them, maybe kansas is similar.

How do you get to be a "porn star".  Does merely posting nude pictures on a website qualify?  I always thought you had to at least get paid to screw in videos before you could be a bonafide porn star.
