Here's what 44 rounds of 7.62 from an AK-47 and .38 will do to a brand new police car. For those of you that might have heard about the shootout last week between some heathen from Bulverde and one of Schertz' finest police officers-here's some photos of what the 2005 car looks like after the fact. The car was totalled. Fortunately, the policeman was smart enough to run and hide behind his car rather than get back inside. |
Was the officer ok? Thats pretty good shooting. Most cop cars are riddled with bullets all over and this one has them were they count
No it was a traffic stop. The cop got out and ran behind the vehicle and waited till he stopped shooting then returned fire.

Definitely WON'T buff out! Here is the news story from the link above: =================================== KSAT.com 50 Rounds Exchanged During Police Shootout Schertz Police Officer Escapes Injury; Suspect Wounded POSTED: 8:36 am CST March 4, 2005 UPDATED: 2:55 pm CST March 4, 2005 SAN ANTONIO -- A Schertz police officer escaped serious injury late Thursday despite a hail of gunfire from two weapons allegedly fired by a 48-year-old Comal County man he had stopped for speeding. Schertz Police Chief Stephen Starr said Officer Richard Kunz pulled over Michael Kennedy for speeding on north Interstate 35 near FM 1103 at 11:30 p.m. when the officer noticed Kennedy was carrying a handgun. Police Chief: 'Our Officer Was Extremely Lucky' Seconds later, Kennedy then allegedly took out an assault-style rifle out of his Toyota Corolla and emptied 30 rounds from an AK-47 and then from a .9mm handgun, Starr said. Kunz, hidden behind his cruiser, managed to fire off 16 shots, three of them hit Kennedy in the back and neck. Kennedy was listed Friday in serious condition at Brooke Army Medical Center. Kunz was not hurt but his patrol car was riddled with 30 bullets. "Our officer was extremely lucky," Starr said. "We do a lot of firearms training here, and he reverted to the training that we initiated here at the department and everything fell into place. And that's what we look for." Starr said three weapons and several magazines of ammunition, including a sidearm in a holster, were recovered from Kennedy's car. Kennedy faces attempted capital murder charges. The Texas Rangers are investigating. Kunz was placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation is ongoing. Copyright 2005 by KSAT.com All rights reserved. |

Dang! That's alot of shooting.
What kind of mag did the perp have in the AK? Did he reload the AK? |
He has been pulled over 2 other times with an assault weapon and pistols. He even had a valid CHL on the previous traffic stops. One was for drunk driving.
First time I've ever agreed with administrative leave with pay.
He deserves it. |
I bet he took a lot of ribbing in school. |
scary shit! i couldn't imagine receiving that kind of fire. i'm glad the good officer made it.
Good work officer. |
That's a 2004 or 2005, bet it takes a while to get it replaced............. The cage is also toast.
Notice 2 flat tires, driver's side, and the spotlight shoot out. Also it looks like there are at least 3 impacts in the windshield that didn't penetrate. |
Them's some big pics. I thought a Crown Vic was coming through my monitor!
Looks like one of Old_Painless's Box O' Truth experiments gone bad. |
How do I get my rifle to fire those wooden sticks?
I'm glad to hear that the officer is OK and the perp got tagged. |
Wow, wonder WTF that dude was wanted for?
Seems like a bit much for a mover. That cop had better get religious quick, he used up 8 of his 9 lives during that encounter. |
A Cop with a handgun beats a gun toucher with an AK. Where's all the clowns who claim Cops can't shoot?
WHY bother with the sticks? We know who the shooter is, the officer wasn't hit, why does it matter??
Please tell me the video from the "cruiser cam" will be released soon.....
the officer used better tactics, he let the bad guy empty his mag and stayed behind cover
Ah grasshopper, if you don't fully investigate the obvious, then you are at a minmum sloppy. Sloppy gets your ass beat in Court. If the defense brings up gaps in the investigation, it makes the facts you do present suspect. |
Don't you just love how a scumbag like that already has weapons violations, yet he is still running around free.
Weapons violations? Also how small are the bullets coming from a .9mm handgun? |
Wow. That is some crazy shiat! Hats off to the cop. I'd buy him a beer.
Nice shootin' Tex! |
That cop is very lucky. Its too bad the perp survived. They should give him the death penalty for attempted murder.
To make sure the case being built is airtight. Otherwise (and I've seen it before) some judge might dismiss charges saying, "well how do you know this was the man firing the shots? They could have come from anywhere." A defense attorney will actually try to convince them of that. |
From a .9mm? Very small. From a 9mm? Considerably larger. |
Thank god the officer had peace of mind to stay behind cover until the right moment! |

Ward said numerous other firearms and a stockpile of ammunition were found in his home.
“We also discovered at the residence there was a bunker dug at the back that was fortified out of earth, steel and railroad ties,” Ward said. “It was disguised from the top so it was difficult to locate.” There was more inside the house, the detective said. “He also had in a room in the house a fortification in the form of a steel-plated wall,” Ward said. “He had a Kevlar helmet and a chemical protective mask in the residence and in the bunker,” Ward said. The shooting incident remains under investigation by the Texas Rangers. Investigators have not said where Kennedy was going the night Kunz stopped him. Where is Taxman???????????????? |
