Police Officer Killed in Northampton County Shooting

A police officer is dead after being shot in the head in Freemansburg, Northampton County, Pa., Thursday afternoon.

It happened at 126 Washington Street around 5:15.

Officer Robert Lasso was struck once in the head. Someone on the scene performed CPR and Lasso was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill where he later died, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.

Sources tell us a suspect is in custody.

Just FYI, Northampton County is about 50 miles from Philadelphia.
