I have two bathtubs in my house with the ol' hot/shower/cold knobs. The middle knob does the tub vs. shower flow adjustment. Both of them are not forwarding all the water (mainly hot) to the shower head when in the full open position.

Is this a simple fix or something I should call a plumber for?

Is this a tub you rarely use? If so I had the same problem. There is acutally a filter in the diverter that needs to be replaced.

One of the two is in the master bath, so yes. The other would be a nice-to-fix sort of thing.

Mine was under warranty, but it's a pretty easy fix.
check your local hardware store for a correct replacement filter, mine was a Moen.

1. Turn off the main water supply to your house.
2. Have some rags handy
3. remove the diverter knob and plate.
4. remove the hot side line ( the filter is in-line with the incoming hot water)
5. replace filter
6. use plumbers paste or Teflon tape to seal the threads
7. have someone outside turn on the main so you can leak check your work
8. if good reinstall the plate and knob
9. if leaking verify you have not cross threaded anything and have enough paste or tape.

Or instead of buying another filter you can dip in in some CLR or similar cleaner and scrub it with a stiff toothbrush.
