Sorry for the rant. I was supposed to receive a recurve bow as a christams gift to my self this evening. I get home and checked the tracking progress and the note said it was delivered and it was "left with girl" I'm sitting here with a WTF expression as no girls live at my home. Looks like some random bitch of the street just took possession of my bow and the ups driver took off. My dad was at at home at the time and he never heard a knock on our door. Now ups customer service says that the shipper only can file a claim. Anybody on here have experience with this?

Two years ago I had a package stolen from my front porch that was delivered by usps. The next day I set up a decoy box with a cd stereo and caught some crack head pos and chased him for about 50 yards off my property until I caught up to him and knocked him over. After a small scuffle the pos was able to get away from me with no package. I called the cops and didn't take much interest in the case. I took matters into my own hands and went out driving around and actually found him drinking beer on his way to his home. I followed him for 1 block and watched him go inside. I once again called the cops and they arrested him. I pressed charges for assault and theft. They couldn't get him to confess about the original package he stole,  so I couldn't file federal charges with the postal inspector. To make a long story short he was back on the street in a couple hours and he was never convicted of the charges. I'm pretty sure I can catch this new theif but around these parts it seems like the law sides with thiefs. Any tips on how I can deal with this theif are welcomed. I won't deal with law enforcement around here anymore, I just wish these theif rats would come into my home so that I could blow a 9 pellet pattern into their chest . Sorry about any spelling erros, I'm heated right now and not thinking straight.

Mail yourself a package and catch the jackass stealing your stuff on video camera
Be ready to detain them and call the police.....

Have the shipper make the claim and get them to ship the next one 'Signature Required from Addressee".

This is another benefit of color cameras around my home.  I also have one covering the door step and front yard/walk approaching the door step.

I hope you get it figured out OP.

Thanks for the ideas. I may try mailing myself a package, regardless of it's contents it a felony to steal mail. The area that I live in is not bad, it's the people who walk over 2 miles to get here who are the problem. The homes in upper class areas around here put up with home break ins more than what you would think, criminals know who is likely to put a bullet in them and who won't. I won't let some petty theifs scare me away from my home after 20 years of being here. The box was probably compact as it was a take down recurve.

Could he have delivered it to the wrong house?

It is UPS.

More than once, UPS has left stuff in my carport for one of my neighbors.

Each time I have taken it over to them, so maybe one of your neighbors has it and has not gotten around to bringing it over.

That's what I was hoping but no luck. Most of my neighbors are in their 70's and are very honest people. I talked to them earlier to see if they saw anything.

Buy a cheap cell phone, turn on the gps tracking function, put it inside a ghetto blaster, mail it to yourself.  When it is stolen, use the gps tracker to find house, burn house down.
Repeat

Or have stuff shipped to your work.

Yeah, that works.  A friend of mine bought a new computer, and paid extra for signature required.  UPS driver let a guy walking by on the street sign for it and walk off.  Signature was just scribbles.

I wish I could talk to him. I know for sure it wasn't my regular guy because of the last hub my package was at and he knows my whole family. Ups won't give any info because I was not the shipper.

I was supposed to get an ammo order on Saturday. I was home all day smoking some ribs and the Fedex guy never came to the door. Tracking says no one was home so package was left at the door. I looked all over the front of the house and there was no package. I contacted Gander Mountain and they are having Fedex track it down. They said they should know more in 3-4 days and if it isn't recovered they will refund my money or send a replacement.

Another idea - UPS hires extra drivers this time of year and I had one driver that got fired when I called his dispatch to let them know that all my gifts I had ordered had been opened. I held his signing pad while I called so he couldn't leave. Dispatch asked to talk to hom and told him to stay at my location with the truck until his super got there. They brought another driver and fired this one on the spot - drove him back in their car.

Thanks. My experience in the past is that the process is only as easy as the company you bought the product from makes it. It really is on them and not UPS/Fedex to make sure you get your order or refund. They are responsible with dealing with the shipping company. I have had quick and easy replacements in the past and I have had nightmares that took months for a refund. Fortunately Gander Mountain seems to be on the ball so far.

Good luck yourself.

look on craigslist to see if someone is selling it locally.  If so, social engineer your way into looking at it and maybe seeing if she has the receipt for the manufacturers warranty.

eta: if she opened it, odds are she dry fired it just to play with it.

I live at the end of a mile long dirt road with houses all along the way and once had a Fed Ex Driver just stop and drop off the package at the first house.

Thankfully the home owner brought it the rest of the way down the road.

They delivered it to the wrong house.

UPS and Fedex both have a hard time reading fucking street signs in my neighborhood.

My house and the house one block over (lined up perfectly) have the same street number and we are constantly getting each others shipments despite our street names being way wayyyy different.
