The mini-series version of Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth" premieres Friday, July 23rd on Encore.  Being a big fan of the book I'm really looking forward to this and hopefully it's a series on par with Deadwood and Rome.  Ian McShane (Al Swearengen from HBO's Deadwood) is one of the main villians and the casting looks excellent so far.  A quick perusal of the storyline suggests that it's going to follow the book quite closely, although I've seen a couple of minor changes.

Fans of historical movies and especially in medieval history should check this series out.  Hopefully it lives up to expectations.

I tend to agree about Sutherland but if they stick to the original storyline, he won't be in 7 of the 8 episodes.

That was a great read, and the sequel is pretty good, too.

XM radio is doing the audio book version of it now (I heard part of it this weekend, and cussed a blue streak that I missed so much of it).  I never knew it was on audio.
