"You never shoot at a moving target unless you've got a full auto. Otherwise you'll just be wasting ammo and he'll still get ya."

This from the RO and instructor for the range's CHL classes.

ETA - Oh and the bubba's were out in force today. There was one woman shooting a .38 who would fire, bring the gun down, turn her hand so that the gun was pointing at her husband next to her, cock the hammer and then shoot again. I finished off my ammo and drills quickly and then got the frak out of there.

He's absolutely right!  Everyone knows that semi-auto is just one bullet after the other, but full-auto magically fills the air with millions of bullets that you can't escape from!

Was this a range for the handicapped?

From here on out, you must refer to this place as "The short range".

The fact that the guy is an INSTRUCTOR and can pass this horseshit along to other shooters who will take it as gospel because "My CHL instructor said so" just chills me to the bone.

No wonder we've got so many firearms owners out there that really don't have any sort of a clue.

I bet this guy would ask "Where's the bayonet?" if you offered to let him shoot an AR.
If you see him again, ask why the mil-spec for the M16/M4 includes SEMI auto setting?

Would it be of humorous value to point out the misspelling of "mentally"?

Shooting like anything else, it is always dangerous to be doing it at a "open to the public" facility.

That's an easy one.
It's for shooting guys that are standing still.
