Learn this; live this; love this.

Magazines feed the weapon.  Clips feed some magazines.  An en bloc Garand clip is inserted into the magazine of the M-1 Garand.  Though the rifle strips rounds from the clip, it will not work unless it is in place in the magazine.

Some clips are called stripper clips.  Rounds are "stripped"  from the stripper clip into the magazine.

Some mags are not loaded with clips, but many, many, many are.

Sorry, no pix.

Tag.  I'd love to see something that easily illustrates the differences for those ignorant gun owners that I meet...

Kinda blurry and out of focus but, correct me if I'm wrong but this is also a clip, no? I guess this is what I think of as a clip since it is literally a metal clip and not a "stripper clip"

Yes that is a clip as well, it feeds the built in magazine in the Garand.

you are correct an en bloc is a clip fed into the magazine of the garand.

Correct. That is an En Bloc clip for a Garand.

Even the definition of the word 'clip' when not talking about guns, perfectly describes what a gun clip does. It grabs ahold of the rounds and holds them on a piece of metal.

Magazines on the other hand actively feed.

To keep it simple, clips feed magazines.
Magazines feed firearms.

Not really what you're looking for, more for the Counter Strike leet kiddies, but I find this one amusing.

And...

Unfortunately the MP5 mag is an airsoft one.

Lets see.....from left:
AR15/M16 30 round mag
stripper clip with what appears to be wolf ammo
AR15/M16 20 round mag
unknown but probably .22LR mag
1911 Mag
Unknown (FAL?)
AK Mag, appears to be 30 round length
Bottom Center:
unknown clip, again with what appears to be wolf ammo

so how'd I do?

The only mag that looks like a FAL mag is the one second from the left labeled "AR15/M16 20" round mag in your post...see the notch on the right top of the mag? The one you have as a questionable FAL mag doesn't look like any I've seen. What say you? check the floorplate as well... pic incoming

Easy way to remember is mags have springs and clips do not. Simple.
