Looking for protection from dropping the darn phone. Don't really have a problem with water or scratches.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 6:35:20 PM EST
This is ar15.com. Leading question.
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 6:40:35 PM EST
I have used both cases
Magpul case is slimmer , costs less but doesn't offer the same level of protection

Magpul fits better in your pocket - I have one on my iPhone for the last 3 years.

Otter box is the top of the heap as far as protection , but makes the phone a little bulkier

I like my Incipio case.

Anything other than an Otter Box Defender is pretty much a waste of money.

Otterbox defender has great screen protection.

I have both but only use the Magpul case now
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 6:44:28 PM EST
I like the Magpul case because it is slimmer and fits in my pocket easier.

Lifeproof!

If you ever plan to keep the phone in your pocket the otter box rubber won't last no time due to stretching.

Strike industries case is what I use

This is what I use. I had a Commuter on my Razr and while it cracked when I dropped it my phone was protected. I felt safe sticking with OB for my S4 when I upgraded. I contemplated about the Magpul but opted for what I felt was better protection.

I have an S4 Active, which the Lifeproof S4 case won't fit up with.
too bad; I'd use a Lifeproof if I could.
My Otterbox is clunky, but it works.

I've been using Otterboxes for my iPhones and iPads for years now and they've held up great. I've dropped them and they have all survived with a dent, ding, scratch or crack.

Zero lemon that comes with extended battery. I can go two days of heavy usage between charges. Check it out.

I stick to not dropping my fucking phone.

It's worked on 2 BlackBerrys, 1 HTC smart phone, 2 iPhones, and now a Galaxy S5

Seidio convert. Two cases for different carry.

Either one are great op, I have had both and my liking kinda switches depending on how tier one or cool I am feeling on any given day

Otterbox Defender, I have one on my galaxy. Check Fleebay, i got mine for $15 shipped brand new, no package

Magpul for looks, Otterbox for protection. I use an Otterbox on my S4. Dropped the phone multiple times and it's fine. The case has paid for itself many times over.

Lifeproof are super nice but for what you pay compared to the durability is almost not worth it. I'm averaging about 3 months before it gets a rip or seperates at a seam and is no longer waterproof. They replaced it but I don't want to have to constantly worry that the case has been compromised

This. It is similar to the Otterbox but the rubber is between the case and the phone, so you have the same impact protection as the Otterbox but without the stretched out rubber issue.

Loved the Otterbox on my 3gs, hate the one for the 4s (defender and commuter)...bought a Magpul and was so happy with it I bought one for my S4 when I switched to Droid.

I would look at a Pelican over the Otterbox, but I really do like my Magpul....excellent balance of size, protection & grip

+1, I am in construction and the life proof has saved me more than once. One time I was 8' up, phone falls out of my hand, lands on a hard surface right on the corner.....no issues, kept on ticking......
Link Posted: 10/3/2014 10:11:12 PM EST
I loved the Magpul case I had on my iPhone 4S, but it stretched over time and would slip off easily. I have my 5S in an OtterBox and may replace that with a Lifeproof eventually.

The Magpul case is crap if you want actual protection for your phone.

Seidio Obex is the only way to go.

Seidio OBEX combo

Waterproof (actually is, unlike the Otterbox), durable, the sound isn't too terribly attenuated like it is in the LifeProof cases, and the screen is still totally functional.

I've been using mine on my S4 for the last year+, through all kinds of construction-related BS, and it still looks like it's brand-new.

As a tip, take the belt clip off the holster and use it as a screen protector. Then, get a 7.62mm single-mag pouch from Tactical Tailor, and use that as a holster. Bombproof, and the damn thing isn't going anywhere, once you've pulled the mag retention shock cord over the top. My phone looks like it's brand-new, even after over a year of steady use and abuse.

Otterbox Commuter with one of those real nice glassy screen protectors. I have no plans to throw it in a wood chipper or get run over by a tank so it's been pretty good. It's light and doesn't add too much to the width and height. It is definitely thicker though.

The Spec candy shells are supposed to be tough, even tougher than the otter boxes at least as far as drop tests go.

I went from Otterbox, to Incipio, to Magpul. I'll keep my Magpul.

lol total bullshit.

I use cheap ass cases, the thinnest I can find.. I've dropped the shit out of all of my phones and never damaged a single one.

Otterbox defender is an absolute waste of money for most of its users. Unless you take your phone when you do extreme sports, or are retarded and leave it on the roof of your car all the time, the otterbox defender is overkill.

This thread is relevant to my interests as I have a new S4. And as usual when I click on a product thread, I spend money. Bought a Magpul.

My last phone, an LG something or another, has been dropped multiple times. Never broke, back popped off plenty kind of like an ablative shield absorbing the impact. Never had a case on it
