I have a 2001 olds aurora 3.5L v6

i was searching on ebay for new air filters (so while we're on that topic, whats a good cheap air filter thats comparble to K&N that boosts performance a little.  fram?)

i found this performance module made by Optima Performance or something
Ebay Aurora Perfomance Module link

and its REALLY cheap.  now their add says the MSRP is about 200 and this is a special "introductory offer" but i'm skeptical.

I dont know much about these things so anyone who does please inform me!  It must alter the shift points to a higher RPM, but i wasnt sure if it would adversely harm my transmission in the process.  Also, my car is 100% stock (hence the first part about a new air filter...) so would this chip still work ok and will it know the difference if i get a new air filter after i install it.

thanks in advance

If it's anything like the Grand Am "Performance Boxes" it's just a black plastic box with a resistor inside that A.) doesn't do fuck-all and B.) would cost about $.50 at Radio-Shack.

Ooh it is the R series optimas those are the best. I've heard that they are factory rated at a 25hp increase but the R series is actually like 50hp increase.
Dude it's Ebay everything there is junk.

Usually what those do is plug in between your MAF and/or IAT sensors and change the signals going to the FM box fooling it into changing the mixture and/or timing.

In theory, it can work. You are better off reprogramming the FM box.
