I emailed the Pepsi Board of Directors and stated that my family will not purchase nor consume their products as long as Mr. West is a paid spokesman. This is what I got in return. Typical avoid the issue commentary.
GEORGE BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE A Message from Consumer Relations 010603079A Dear Norman, Thank you for your email regarding Kanye West and his remarks during a recent televised benefit concert in New York. The catastrophic events surrounding our country’s worst natural disaster in living memory have imposed a severe strain not only on those directly involved, but also those watching from afar. It’s not surprising that emotions have run high in the immediate days following. Many questions have arisen in the days since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. President Bush has said himself that the nation’s response has been “unacceptable” and that we need to find out what went right and what went wrong. This has become a challenging and frustrating time for everyone, and during the benefit, Mr. West made an emotional, impulsive statement. Now he’s focusing his energy on helping the affected citizens recover and rebuild after this national disaster. Among other things, he plans to visit the area to personally assist the people who have been affected by Katrina. At Pepsi, we’re doing what we can, too. We are dedicated to working directly with relief organizations and government agencies to provide monetary assistance and food and beverage donations to people in need. We fully appreciate your feelings in this matter and the sincerity with which they have been expressed. The destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath will be subjected to serious debate for some time to come and, in time, will be assessed with less passion and more reflection. In the meantime, the victims of this tragedy have to receive support and care. That will require an extraordinary national commitment and we will need to continue to do whatever we can to help. Again, we thank you for taking the time to express your opinion and wish that you will continue to do so. With best regards, Suzanne Gooley Consumer Relations Representative [email protected] 010603079A I PLAN ON SENDING THE POLL RESULTS TO PEPSI. |

<pats on head> Go away kid, the grown ups are talkin'. <pats on head>
I don't know what he said, but they're basically giving you 95% bullshit and 5% 'we wish he hadn't said that.'
So it amounts to 'we're not going to do anything about it'. PR speaketh with forked tongue. On one hand, maybe I don't watch enough TV to see all this crap. On the other hand, that's probably good. |

You can write the PepsiCo's Board here. www.pepsico.com/company/request-information.shtml
Yep, that's the Reader's Digest Condensed version of the letter. |
Are you surprised that Pepsi doesn't care that their spokesman is a racist?
Pepsi tastes like shit, and is the favorite cola of New England...Go figure.
At least you got a letter, though I guess I don't really care. Pepsi can pack it.
I will continue to not puchase anyhing from pepsi including there bottled water. (the only thing soda related I ever purchase)
Well what did he say, is it that stupid song about how the dubya hates black people? Pepsi is the worst cola any way, give me kmart or RC brand any day over Pepsi......
A pepsi product will not be purchased by myself, although I only drink about 1-2 non-water or milk beverages a year.

I did get a letter after all:

Doesn't Coke support PETA or something? Maybe just a rumor |
remember - pepsi owns FRITO-LAY also. so no lays potato chips, doritos or fritos and such.
"have a coke and a smile". besides, pepsi is the softdrink equivilant of newport or kool cigarettes.
roy d....smoke 'em if ya got 'em |
lol...wtf.....
I just bought a 20 ounce Pepsi, and am sipping it as I type this post. Sure is good. |
I sent off a letter to the Board. I will also not frequent any resturants that seel Pepsi either.
Well....I don't know what this person said or didn't say.
I don't drink pepsi anyway, and am cutting back on all non-water / tea / milk beverages. I simply don't need all the sugar. So, since I don't eat potato chips or what-not that frito-lay makes (again, not good when trying to lose weight) and I don't drink any pepsi products, me saying I'll boycott them over someting I didn't even hear/see means very little, don't you think? |
What do you expect?
It’s obviously a plot by Pepsi because they hate black people. If they didn’t hate blacks they would have chosen a better spoken man to represent his views and their product. I mean… Kane West… COME ON! Did you hear the guy? “Ummm I’m very emotional right now. Ummmm we gotta give these people some money. Ummm This is very sad. Ummm It’s sad because these people were in a hurricane. Ummm and Gorge Bush… Ummm yeah! Gorge Bush hates the black man.” Crap! My dog is more erudite than that. And PepsiCo holds him up as an example representing the black man. They obviously hate people of color. </DUh> |

Did you expect a personalized, non bullshit response ? Aint gonna happen... |
I was with ya up till now. Fuck it, George Bush hates black people. |
Pepsi spun off the restaurants a few years ago. If you look at that list, the only thing that isn't crap is the oatmeal. One would do well not to buy it. But go ahead. I own stock. |
That's only a list of the major U.S. brands. Pepsico owns hundreds of regional brands as well as international brands. It's obvious that Pepsico doesn't like black people and is trying to kill them off with junk/fast food. |
I was mostly playing around with that post. I use only a few items off the list. Taco Bell, Doritos, Tostitos, The instant oatmeal and the granola bars. |
Won't buy ANY Pepsi product so long as they are paying this racist.
Here is another thought.
If pepsi owns all those drink and food items, why were blacks going hungry and thirsty? |
As mentioned elsewhere, I'm on permanent boycott from pepsi due to soemthing (I forget exactly what...) that happened in the '80's. The fact that Pepsi just flat-out tastes bad (and I don't drink soft drinks anyway) has certainly made my boycott easier. |
as long as this racist is representing Pepsi, myself and my family will be sure to boycott Pepsi and all thier other companies. I wouldn't want my moneys going to support someone of his ilk.
I love Pepsi, it's my favorite soda, a lot smoother than Coke. But if that fuckhead is being paid by them, then the 2 or 3 64oz bottles my family buys each week PLUS the 2 or 3 20oz I buy daily at work will be switched to another non-Pepsi product.
Fuck that and fuck him. |
Hmm.. is New York state New England or Mid-Atlantic....? |
let me see if I got this straight, Kanye West is still a spokesperson for Pepsi, even after accusing the president (who has more blacks and higher ranking blacks in his cabinet than any president before him) of not liking black people. But they fired Britney Spears for drinking a Coke. I guess I am strictly a Coke drinker now.
Ah, but they're not TRUE black people. THey don't vote democrat, they don't live in ghettos, they don't speak slang, and they don't play the saxophone! Seriously, that's how they see it. And we're the racists. |
Funny you should mention that. I heard a woman at work say "I dont drink Coke, thats for white people" I honestly heard that a few years ago. |
Your kidneys must hate you. |
C'mon now, young aspiring close-minded racist thugs need role models too! More importantly, Pepsi needs them to keep buying their products.
