So we are having an exterminator come out and they are doing a entire house spray and what not. It's pretty intense, have to take everything out of the cabinets and even.

Well that brings us to my "office" as I call it.

I have a 600lb safe in the corner of the room, no hiding that, among others.

So I told my wife that I do not want them going into my "office", only holes into the room are from a internet cable. I was just gonna get some silicone and fill that tiny hole and call it good.

I could move my stuff to my brothers for the day and allow them in the room but the 600lb safe is not moving...

What does ARF do or recommend?

It's be a lot of work moving stuff but...

ETA:
To clarify, the safe isn't moving but I have more then one safe and a closet full of fun if you get my drift that's more my concern.

Depends on what they are spraying for, if it small insects, I would move the stuff andd let him do his thing, bugs go places, places you can't imagine.  If they are spraying for something else, I have no idea what else they may spray for, I still say have em in there.  You are paying for it, make em work.  Also, try covering it with a big doiley made from gay porn.

I know how you feel, especially since some employees of such companies are usually that bottom of the barrel type.

(Disclaimer: I did not say that ALL employees of home service companies are shit bags, just some.)

easy once he completes the job, knock him out and and wood chip him, his whole family, the company he works for, and all their customers.

that way no one will know it was you.

but seriously. if it is a single man business or a large reputable company you will be fine. if it is some dude on craig's list, no.

LOL, I am on the other side of this.  No way in hell I'm letting some dude see that stuff just because he's working for a large company or because he spelled the name on his shirt correctly.  Even if the risk is small, why not make it less?  Why not keep such things minimized?

Some stuff is private.  Period.

Don't sweat it. I had to have an appraiser come in on my rec ent refi, I simply told him that the room with the heavy safe door was 'storage.' I gave him the rooms dimensions and left it at that.

Security through obscurity doesn't work and is a pet peeve of mine.  If you have something worth a "professional" thief's time to take, they have other, less costly and more reliable ways of locating targets.  And a thief of opportunity, like a shady exterminator, isn't going to mess with a safe, regardless of what's in it.

It just irks me when people seem to try to prove how tacticool they are by displaying the most paranoia about where the boogey-man is gonna jump out on them.  Good lord.  By all means, be prepared, but live your life.  Every shadow isn't gonna jump out and get ya!  I can only chuckle when my liberal friends take jabs at me about how paranoid and "scared of everything" gun owners must be...because it's true.

no offense, the average gun safe is not going to keep a pro from stealing your stuff

1/8" thick steel is not exactly fort knox

a lot of these safes can be opened by drilling a single hole

the company i worked at had a safe busted open, it was done with just crowbars, peeled it open like a banana

same with fire protection.

I'm just saying that an insurance policy is a must.

True story. I worked for a security company one summer, and one of the installers ended up going back to a house he put a system in, stole some jewelry and electronics, and quit the job.

True story. My roommates while I was working for that company also quit the job. I came home to a locked apartment, and all my stuff gone. No forced entry, all deadbolts still locked, they left through the garage.

Thought experiment. You have $50k in jewelry. Are you more likely to have it taken if you leave it on a side-table right by the front door, and show everyone who comes in(friends, family, neighbors, pest-control dude, gardeners, etc) 'Hey, look at all my expensive jewelry!', or if you simply don't let people know what you have and keep it secured?

OP, I wouldn't worry about it

just be sitting there in your office holding an AR

tell the exterminator guys, "Like you, my business is death.  I too exterminate the vermin from this world.  And business is good."

say the last part in a whisper

BTW, thanks for not calling the office your "man cave"

Things are almost always stolen by people that know they are there.
There is only one way for people to know something is there.   They see it, or hear about it.

Not Tacticool at all, just a guy with lots money (for me) invested in some stuff. I don't trust people I don't know and do not advertise what I have and where it is. So I sure as shit don't just let folks in that have no business being there.

So I don't to make my office a choke point  for bugs so I am thinking of either putting all my ammo into one safe and relocating all guns to a seperate safe. That would only leave the safes visible.

or

While they are secured, I am thinking of moving my safes and the ammo out for the guy. Lots of work though and short on time.

Not messing with the 600lb safe.

1)take all gun stuff out of safe and hide at brother's house
2)fill safe with gay porn
3)leave safe door open while he is there spraying so he can see safe contains only gay porn
4)after he leaves, dispose of gay porn and fill safe back up with gun stuff

problem solved
