That's the stupidest thing I have ever seen.  Only 1000x more to raise.

And why?  For the noble cause of paying Greek civil servants and their pensions?

Whose wages and pensions were predicated on borrowed money?

So fucking stupid.

Not to get up on my high horse, a ton of American state and local governments are going Greece, most notably Illinois.

They are only a measly $1.6 billion in default. Some multi-billionaire should just buy Greece.

Would be epic if Trump footed the bill with specific wants and requirements. Trump then saves Greece and has a hell of a feather, in his high dollar hat.

Then he uses Greece as an example of a failed nation who's economics and government were turned around with capitalistic principles and common sense.

I know, never gonna happen, but the shitstorm and clanking he would make while walking would be fun to watch during the POTUS campaign.

NM's resistance to inviting business and seemingly sole reliance on government entities for income is placing its future in scary, slightly unpredictable circumstances.

Were a national lab closure from absolute disaster. There is nothing to absorb that type of hit that size, saying we'd be fucked is putting it lightly.

I love my state but its hard not to be weary of the fragility of its economy.

"Crowd funding" isn't the solution for Greece's problems. But it is a way for people to show solidarity.

In the same way that Bernie Sanders is showing solidarity:

Retards be retarding lol.

The problem with Greece is work ethic they take too many vacations don't work enough hours and retire too early and all much of this is based on government subsidies.  They should invite 5 or 6 million hard working Mexicans to move there and teach them about work ethic.

We have to get through $50b of savings, and then there's the the Permanent Fund (another $50b), and then after that there's income taxes.

We have a long way to go before we get into IL's situation.

But with our voters, who knows?  The idiots were protesting for more money for education outside the legislature's office for a while.  They don't seem to understand or care that there's less than no money in the budget.

Here's a question...

What's the total amount of euros held in private hands in Greek banks currently?

Just out of curiousity.

So wait, I'm confused

It strikes me as a troll but 73,000 people seriously donated up to 1.2M euro to this? Average of 17.2 euro per person. Do they get their money back when it doesn't meet the goal? I mean, I can think of much more fun and useful ways to blow ~$15 than a crowdfunded govt bailout...

My district general manager said that we weren't getting raises this year because Greece is in financial trouble. She then proceeded to tell us that we however could worm all the overtime we wanted. My response was, "So, lemme get this straight. We can't get a raise because corporate says Greece is in trouble and they can't afford it. But they can afford to pay me and everyone else in the company overtime? Well, you can keep your overtime. Clearly, corporate needs it more than I do."

Fuck Greece.

However after seeing the level of brain dead logic that liberals employ I'm not shocked something this stupid and pointless was started.

The 0% is just how close they are to the goal, not how many people have paid.  The website takes the money directly from the contributors, when that happens depends on how the campaign is set up to run.

Yeah, Illinois is what happens when you elect democrats for 50 years straight. The real odd thing is they still somehow blame Republicans for all problems.

The best thing for the country and Illinois would be a split at I-80, we can sell Chicago to pay off the debt and the rest of Illinois can go pure red for Presidential elections.
