While that may well be true, a lot of folks in this thread are commenting about how many people in general, don't look as old as folks of the same age from a few decades back.

Being fit makes a HUGE difference.

I think that's one of the big factors people notice, even with the actors and actresses posted in this thread. The ones who are overweight and out of shape look significantly older.

Similarly, my coworkers who folks think are older than me (despite being anywhere up to 15 years younger) are all overweight and out of shape.

***a shaved head helps too. No overt signs of male pattern balding or graying.

P.S.
Being slightly overweight can actually help look younger, in some cases, as the link I posted previously, shows. At the age where wrinkles are evident, a little more fat in the face = less evident wrinkles. The link also showed that especially at older ages, dramatic weight loss can make people look older, due to the loose, saggy skin that results.

Being fat/unhealthy all the time, seems to age people more rapidly, though.

Which one?

Cool story:   We spend 4-5 days every summer with my mom, sisters and their families and this summer we stayed at a place in Red Rock, TX.  While we were checking in the property manager was telling us about the place and that there was a horror movie filmed there a few years ago.  She said it was a terrible movie but we still needed to watch it anyway and they have it queued up in their streaming library.  We were super stoked about it and all piled into the living room the last night we were there to watch this gem.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4514660/

As we were packing to leave we thought it would be fun to take pics in the spots of some of the scenes so that's where that's from.

Pic of the movie on the tv screen:

Attachment Attached File

The coyote was down low on the hearth when we were there so he held it so it could be in the pic.

Another fun fact----one of the main character girls in the movie (such as it is ) is the one that imploded Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's marriage when he cheated on her with this girl.

We're at that age though where we're going to start seeing things snowball soon (he has to put on readers for most things and I can't go 4 months between hair color appointments anymore).   Not exactly looking forward to it and planning on going through it as gracefully as possible but nobody escapes the passage of time----if they're lucky.

Except maybe Chuando Tan.  There has to be some black magic involved with that one.

I see plenty of people who look older than their age in the current day. Crappy diets, lack of exercise, and how a person chooses to dress has a big impact. I think the difference is people from the previous generations got a job, married, and settled into adulthood at a much earlier age, so none of them looked younger than their actual age, and many looked older. They were more focused on family rather than trying to look good and get likes on social media.

Of course genetics also makes a difference. Tom Selleck is 77, and his TV dad on Blue Bloods Len Cariou is 82.

Surely don't look near as old as 47 year old Carrol O'Connor or 45 year old "Skipper" from Gilligans Island and others shown here.

It isn't just me, it is nearly everyone I see, and lots of people in my family.  People just aren't aging like they used to.

Honestly, without the accoutrements, headgear and beard, you probably do look just as old.  Or even older, Especially if they whitened your hair and cropped it back a bit.     As you know, those guys were cast, for that specific look.
Also, Pictures are deceiving.  Some pics you’ll look older, some younger.
One other thing:  I have bad news about the next few years.   . Aging, isn’t cumulative.  It’s exponential.

same...going to be 46 soon and look like I'm low 30s. Besides a few random grays I don't think I've aged much the last 15 years. I guess the fact I looked like I was all of 14 when I was 20 helped.

Drinking and esp smoking really ages you fast. My grandparents generation smoked like chimneys since age 15 and drank like fish and all looked 20 yrs older at same age as my gen.

I would state it goes beyond appearance.

I am closer to 60 than 50. I still run, lift and basically gym rat it.

I am not as strong, fast and I don’t recover nearly as good as I did at 30.

My dad was blown by 35. Bad knees, shoulder, hobbling around etc.

I am 20+ years older and get along better.

I have always lived an athletic lifestyle and never smoked.

The really sad thing is I am more fit than most who are half my age.

We both smoked for a while.  I was a pack a day for almost 10 years (15-24) and I quit when I got pregnant.

His parents smoked like chimneys in the house/car whatever while he was growing up then he took it up too when we started dating (sorry bro) but he quit a couple of years before I did.  So from 20-23 or something like that.

Strangers used to stop and lecture me and I'd be like, "I'll be old then anyway so who cares?"

We just had  a thread yesterday that claimed that people are prematurely aging
Some people have always aged better than others.
Somone like an Archie Bunker character at 50 years of age in the early 1970s was a depression era kid. Those years were tough on society
Half of the population was tied to agriculture in some fashion, That wears a body out prematurely as well.

We actually got married in 1996 so have just a few years on y'all. That pic was because my workplace got a photographer to come take family pics for the employees at a discount rate.  Had to bring my pug Beijing.

Nothing personal, but wearing sunscreen 365 days a year is stupid.  Unless you're wearing a UV reflective ingredient like titanium dioxide, it most likely contains a UV absorbing chemical such as oxybenzone, homosalate, and avobenzone which have been proven to cause internal cancers, thyroid issues, and disrupt hormones.  People tend to forget most chemicals are readily absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream.

Not saying you shouldn't wear sunscreen to prevent sunburns before spending a day in the sun.  That's not stupid.  Wearing it everyday in lotions and makeup when not in prolonged direct sunlight with the potential to burn is stupid.  No wonder so many people are vitamin D deficient in this country.

For what it's worth, with the popularity of UV absorbing sunscreens, skin cancer rates went down, but internal cancers, thyroid and endocrine issues rapidly increased.

(I dont know if it has already been brought up)

But specific to actors, besides the sunscreen that has been brought up many times,  everyone is using Tretinoin.  Tretinoin (prescription) is the "fountain of youth"

You want to look 20 years younger, start at 30 and you always will. You want to take 10 years off, give it 2 years.  This is not snake oil and it is what everyone is using.

Sun damage is probably the main reason. It wasn't that long ago really when sun tan booths and sunbathing were all the rage, some people still do it, but obviously it fucks up your skin and makes you more lizard looking at the years go by. Trump for his age imo looks pretty good, and he gets made fun of for it, but the spray tan he uses is likely why his skin isn't lizard'ish which it would be if he sun tanned when he was younger. Smoking is another one but that's been mentioned a few times already.

You have it backwards.

But tretinoin and retinoids in general have lots of science behind them as being the best anti aging products on the market.

And a screen capture from a video from last week at 45 years old.

Surely don't look near as old as 47 year old Carrol O'Connor or 45 year old "Skipper" from Gilligans Island and others shown here.

It isn't just me, it is nearly everyone I see, and lots of people in my family.  People just aren't aging like they used to.

If I had to guess your age, I would guess 45.

Is that the topical application of Tetinoin?

And what happened to NAD boosters? I don't hear them mentioned much anymore.

People think it's weird I'm still so infatuated after almost 30 years and I'm like, "But have you SEEN his dimples?"
