I don't see very many cops keeping that big bastard I'm their car, much less multiple.....

If it's a boot replacement, that might work well. But a parking ticket? Do they boot cars for parking tickets?
My main concern is that it assumes you have a phone. |

“It’s got a motorist-release feature which allows people to pay over the phone and enter a code on the Barnacle keypad,” View Quote So what if you want to use the outdated idea of presumption of innocence and contest the ticket? |

Instead of funding the construction of parking garages, parking lots, and expanding streetside parking, the government spends money on ways of fining people out of their money.

A boot takes quite a bit of cutting to remove. This would only require a cordless drill. If you drill a hole in your own windshield from the inside it could probably be repaired. Plenty of people will just stick their head out the window and drive away with it on making it even more dangerous. Doesn't look like any cities have started using them. Just another wacky invention.
|
|
Fuck that. They can make you take time out of your day to return it somewhere?

me thinks some razor blades and a selfie-stick would come in handy

Doesn't everybody lube their windshields up in the morning before heading out?

Love the notes at the bottom of that thing.
The city assumes no liability for damage to YOUR vehicle. Damaging the device is a ticketable offense. |

lol, that wont last. Meter maids will not be strong enough to put that shit on, even without damaging the vehicle upon installation.

How do you increase altercations between police and motorists while also increasing risk for property damage suits...how? HOW!?

Funn shit. We have the Baltimore thread while we bitch about youth ignoring the law, and this where you are bitching about the law being enforced. No better than the other side, the law should not apply to me.

Interesting the city thinks they can deprive someone the use of the vehicle without any due process. After paying my fine and removing it, I would pay a bum $20 to shit all over it; then I'd drop it in a Hefty bag and return it.

I'm pretty sure trying to disable the device would only invite more pain into your life. It's not like they don't know who they booted. Any of those boots they lose would probably billed to the "customer" who removed it and "lost" it. I'm pretty sure their next step in escalation is to impound your vehicle and then see how bad you want it back. Nobody in their right mind is going to pick that fight unless it's a stolen car to begin with. As far as damage, it's probably the same procedure that they have for when a car gets damaged from being booted or being towed. The answer could be "haha, fuck you!" but either way I'm sure it exists and isn't uncharted territory. |

I'm guessing you could punch a hole in the battery and it'd release the valves that keep it on, or slide a slim jim under it and allow air in the suction cups.
|

For the people saying drill it or whatever. Do you honestly think that the parking enforcement people don't record what device goes on what vehicle and that it isn't logged into a database?

It's just amazing how creative government and it's contractors can be when it comes to the "collection" of "taxes".
It's almost as if the whole point wasn't law enforcement, but rather creation and enforcement of laws meant to fleece citizens out of there personal property. Hmmmm. |

You don't get booted for a single parking ticket; it's the chronic offenders who don't pay them who get booted. Don't park where you're not supposed to, and if you do and get ticketed, pay the fine. Problem solved.

Quoted: Instead of funding the construction of parking garages, parking lots, and expanding streetside parking, the government spends money on ways of fining people out of their money. So I get it that parking tickets are reasonable to enforce things like loading zones, fire lanes, handicapped parking, and blocking alleys/driveways. I do not understand why people accept it when their city councils enact pay to park zones. The city builds roads, using tax money you paid them, then they proceed to rent you parking on roads you already paid for? Free parking, with a time limit to ensure turnover. Problem solved. I don't live in a city that does that, but I don't understand why people that do are okay with it. It's not like it's hard to oust retarded city council members. |
