PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY Sun Jan 25 2009 22:13:43 ET Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government." Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury. The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK. STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus? PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government. STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that? PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy. |

ETA: without killing little children. ETA: maybe I was assuming that she meant abortion, not birthcontrol... I like the idea of birthcontrol to the poor, because we are stuck paying their medical bills anyway for now. But i still stand by my murderers statement. |

I have read plenty of times here on ar15.com that women on welfare should be sterilized, or forced to take contraception, and other suggestions of that nature.
Pelosi's suggestion seems similar, even if it is a lot milder. ETA: Where exactly is Pelosi talking about "killing babies?" |

If they will stop welfare leeches from being born I agree with it. reduce the numbers on the welfare rolls.
We support thier parents before they are born, we pay for the birth, we pay for thier housing/food/school/medical for 18 years, after that we pay for them to have more kids for us to support or we pay to keep them locked up. |

We have serious budget issues as a nation, nevertheless the clusterfuck in California. We need to get innovative with cost-saving measures, and helping some street urchin to prevent unwanted pregnancies seems like a good idea. - BG |

We had a local politician who was villanized
 for suggesting that we offer bonus payments to welfare queens who were willing to be sterilized... I thought it was a great idea. Considering the whole captive voter aspect the leftists didn't like it so much.

I think free condoms and birth control for the po' folk is a good idea, and free Viagra is not (yes, medicade in my state gives out free Viagra) less AID drugs to distribute and children to raise save us taxpayers alot of money in the long run, since medicade isn't going anywhere for a while. Read the article again. The overall subject of the article is not contraception, but "family planning services", the largest recipient of public dollars earmarked for these family-palling-services being being Planned Parenthood, which also happens to be the largest provider of abortions in this country. So yes, these "hundreds of millions of dollars" (your dollars, mind you) will be used to directly fund abortion. This is nothing new: PP has received public funds for years. Not it will just be dramatically increased. It sucks. And Pelosi, et al are evil, evil people.
