I was just watching an advertisement for some tribute concert to the rescue workers in NYC.  I am wondering about coming up with some kind of Patriotic Hero who was fighting  against terrorism, and writing and publishing such stories as a way for people to focus on and rally around the troops, and to keep people from breaking down into the partisonship and squabbling we saw before.  Is it time to resurrect Captain Midnight or Steve Canyon? (or maybe there is a better idea?)  I would consider myself a fair writer.  I only have a little bit of knowledge about Captain Midnight, and am scarcely aware of Steve Canyon.  My only knowledge about Steve is a short article in Air And Space Magazine some while back.
While we are at it, anybody up for some ovaltine? (speaking of which, for this to do any good, it would need sponsorship)

My dad was 7 when we entered that war.  He was mostly exposed to Captain Midnight.  Hence, my natural inclination for the winged clock (and my taste for ovaltine! [:E]) .
Anyhoo, I never was a comic book reader, and know next to nothing about storytelling in that medium.  I am better at writing in prose.  Since most of the heroes seem to be aimed at a younger audience, anything written doesn't need to be terribly complex.

Oh yes, one other thing.  All stories written will be under the heading of "Captain America" or whatever name is chosen (or maybe there can be more than one character, all of them under one organization).  The stories you write will be yours, and the stories I write will be mine, for artistic purposes (there can only be suggestions made on each other's plots when solicited, but once published, we shut our mouths about something we don't like about somebody else's story) and for legal purposes.  You will own the rights to your own stories.  If cowritten, the story belongs to both writers, and any artistic or legal questions belong to the writers.
Although I have never been published, I have studied the issue for some time, and can predict some of the issue that will arise.  I hope I am not jumping the gun. [%|]

(1) Lots of cool jets and on the ground, 1911s and fists ruled the day.
(2) For the PC crowd, multinational before its time.
(3) Spiffy uniforms.  50-mission caps, tailored black outfits with built-in parachute, and tall black leather riding boots.  Kick-ass.

Come on guys!  What more could you ask for?
