If we look just at our Poseidon totin subs we're looking pretty good. We keep 10 Poseidon subs at sea at all times

Poseiden? Uhh aren't they all retired?
We're toting Trident IIs now - with some of the Trident I subs getting refitted to carry Trident IIs (the others are getting refitted for spec-ops).

Currently there are 10 Trident II D5 systems in the atlantic fleet and 8 (depending on where the retrofit stands) in the pacific. Each carries 24 missiles. The Trident II missile in turn carries 8 Mark 4 or Mark 5 reentry vehicles usually the W88 warhead- (but also fitted for the W76) a two stage radiation implosion warhead with about 475 kilotons of yield. Any more per missle and the U.S. would be in violation of START I.
These are strategic weapons designed for their deterrent effect. No one in the U.S. is going to use them on India and Pakistan- population centers or military targets, doesn't matter.
The multiple vehicles on the missile are "use em or lose em" style. If you launch the missle all the warheads have to be either used, or dumped off somewhere. That means to direct just one or two warheads to a target means you have to retrofit the missiles and retarget the launch platform. That's a drydock operation. Bit of a waste.
Assuming the United States were even mildly inclined to engage in a nuclear exchange against one of its allies (both Pakistan and India are on comparatively friendly relations with the U.S.)- which in itself is particularly hard to imagine- it is far more likely that theater or (even more likely) tactical weapons would be used against military targets. Yields are more likely to be under 50 kilotons.
None of this is worth thinking about since the United States strategic doctrine doesn't call for the use of nuclear forces except where U.S. troops or population centers are threatened by the same.
Considering both India and Pakistan's limited ability (see illustration) its a pretty doubtful bet to be making.
