I had some paint mixed yesterday for an house painting project.   I asked for a semi-gloss finish.  The product was mixed using a can of "flat" base stock but the color mixing tag they printed on the can shows "semi-gloss".  I completed part of the job yesterday evening, and today, it appears to me that the finish is flat, not semi-gloss.

I am wondering if they used the wrong base to mix the paint.  My question to the Arfcom paint experts is... "Is a semi-gloss finish mixed from a gloss base or from a flat base?"   Or can it be done with both?  The paint is exterior acrylic latex.   Thanks!

Yes, they used the wrong base.

The pigment adds color, not finish.

Thanks, that is what I thought.  I wanted to be sure before I go back and ask them to replace the paint with new semi-gloss.
