We recovered this from a 15 year old gangster. Since it was not reported stolen, I’m assuming it was sold as a PD surplus. Anybody know which state’s Polk County issued these at one time?  Compact S&W 9mm...

Edit:  engraved towards the front of the frame it says “POLK SHERIFF”

We've got a Polk Co., not sure what's issued though.

That was probably issued back in the 1990's. It could be a retired officers weapon that the former owner or widow doesn't know its missing. Have ATF do the trace and you can at least see if it left S&W directly to an agency or if it went through a distributor/LE vendor. It may take several phone calls but you may be able to get it back where it belongs. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

We got one in Tennessee, too.

I'd be betting FLA over ours, though.

If it is Polk County Florida, their Sheriff will be on TV any second to talk about it
