Texas police academy instructor is letting protesters know that any gun owner in Texas can use deadly force to stop vandalism, destruction, or the defacing of any monuments or statues in Texas. |

Well God Bless Texas! thats very cool!
(not cool enough to make up for Austin morons though..... y'all need to work on that....) |
|
|
Damn we need some Texas law appreciation shared throughout this country!
|
|
Huh. That's almost like Texas foresaw that this day would come.

I wonder what they are going to do with the statues they removed at UT?
I would like to buy one or two of them, and put them down in front. |
|
I volunteer to NOT be the test case for this.
Fuckin retarded. |
|
UT at Austin took down the statues but the employees of the State of Texas will still get Confederate Heros Day off. Not even the Black employees of the state want to lose a day off.

A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:
(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary: (A) to prevent the other’s imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime (Night time is 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise). Is a statue "land or tangible, moveable property" seems like it's immovable property, also seems to only apply after dark if you are calling it criminal mischief |

Imagine the national outrage if someone were to do exactly that.
The optics of some Texan mowing down masked Antifa who were trying to destroy a statue. And the cops just saying "yeah, we told ya so" OMG, the outrage would be non stop. |

Didn't read the statute but I'm not shooting someone over a statue

By my read, it wouldn't be legal as a statue doesn't strike me as land or tangible movable property. And even if it was, deadly force would only be permitted at night. I'm not a lawyer, though.
Y'all feel free to be a test case on this one. Imma sit this one out. ![]() |

Seriously, is this up to and includes deadly force? Generally, you can only use enough force to stop the crime, and no more. Also, is this an affirmative defense? Do you need to prove the force was needed, or does the state need to prove deadly force wasn't needed?

Can I get a gofundme set up in advance???
I'll GoPro And ms paint. $200,000.00 ought to be enough... right??? |
|
Yeah, stuff like this is one reason, among many, that we need to increase the educational requirements for police officers and police academy instructors in Texas.
I'd suggest we begin with the basics, like reading comprehension. Then, we can transition to more complex topics like the definition of movable fuckin property. |
|
I think I will not try this out... if my life is in danger I will take the necessary action but the lawyer fees alone would ruin me financially.
