About 5 months out of a PCS from Bragg to Campbell. I've got a Liberty Presidential 50 that needs to go from garage to garage. Anyone have any TTP's for this? I used a combination of a pallet, pallet jack, a roll-back wrecker and a UHAUL on one end and a dedicated "safe guy" on the other for the last move. Anything different?

I've got an '88 D9N. I'll get it wherever you need it to go, just not in the prettiest of fashions.

When you do your TMO appointment let the counselor know you have a big, heavy safe. I had the Army move my AMSEC five times.

I'm in the same boat, PCSing in a few months with a 950lbs. Safe. If you have external hinges on it they should be able lift the door off of it. This should split the weight up.

Liberty will probably ship you a set of shipping feet to put under the safe for easier movement with a pallet jack. They are basically sections of angle iron/channel iron with holes in the right place for it to bolt onto the bottom of the safe.

I'd give them a call and explain the situation.

Mines nearly 800lbs. I've let the Army move it twice. I just let the counselor know. I also paid close attention to the crew when they were loading it. Most moving companies will have the right equipment. If the crew doesn't have it with them call the QC team on the installation and get them involved immediately.

No matter how many times you tell people about it, the guys who show up on moving day will not have gotten the message.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of. Empty weight this is a 1400lb chunk. I'm going to do my part and get it onto a pallet but after that it's on them to wrestle. I'll be interested to see how it goes along with moving my XL Big Green Egg and not destroying that too.

I used a hydraulic lifting trailer to move my parents safe a few weeks ago from one house to another.

We used a dolly and 1" pipes to roll/push it around Egyptian style. It was very easy to move it

It looked something like this. The entire trailer lowers to the ground and all you have to do is handle a 2" bump on the ramp. We just set it down on the ramp as deep as we could use rolled it in on the pipes.

Apologies for not providing an AAR post move but hit the ground running. So, here's the clif notes:

Upload- after repeated requests for a professional safe mover be used to position the safe from the garage to the 18 wheeler, I am met the morning of movement by 8 guys who look at the safe and assure me "they got this". No pallet jacket, no heavy duty hand truck, they're gonna wish this thing up on the trailer. Oooook. I immediately call the safe guy that had installed it with me about 5 years ago. Says he can be there in a couple hours- cool, so I tell him to come on and watch the action. Time to move the safe. Said 8 expert relocation specialists attempt to move the safe from against the wall. Doesn't budge- shocker. They swear it's full- I open it to reveal a completely empty 1560lb safe. Bottom line, a lot of shrugs and excuses but the safe guy I coordinated for that the moving company assured me wasn't necessary, came through. Upload complete by himself in 10 minutes with an electric hand-truck. Next the movers decide that my flat screen needs to be loaded beside the non-secured safe in the crate...see where that's going? yeah. Claimed it. Unrelated but as comical- relocation specialists decided that 2 guys could lift an XL Big green Egg ceramic grill, end result, new green egg.

Download- Same in reverse, movers assured me they didn't need anyone. Got to the house, opened the crate (restricted TV box aside) realized they couldn't get it off the truck. Back to the warehouse, coordinated with a safe moving company, back out and they used two hydraulic lift jacks on casters and pry bars and parked it exactly where I wanted it in 30 minutes- when we retire it's going to be a trick getting it out of there but it will be possible.

Bottom line, the move was a complete shit show. They were 2 weeks late and continuously strung us along. Whatever, we're settled in, never trust the moving companies./

PCS’d an 1100lb Liberty/Cabelas to Guam. I put the notes on DPS that it was an 1100lb “safe” and the unpackers acted like they had no clue and showed up totally unprepared. We had overage anyways but the crew was upset and irritated, likely because they’re on meth. But anyways one guy I know from friends of friends pushed a crate off of a flatbed. He was like “oh it’s just a couch, claim it if it’s broken”.

They also fkd up my wooden aquarium stands and canopies (even if I claim this sht it’s not like I can take the cash and go buy a new one down the street).

So back to the safe: I left the house because I couldn’t watch anymore without calling them unfavorable names. They ignored all the effective methods that previous professional movers used. Turned out okay, some scuffs in the clear coat but whatever. At least they didn’t ask to see what I was gonna keep in it...
