Apologies for not providing an AAR post move but hit the ground running. So, here's the clif notes:
Upload- after repeated requests for a professional safe mover be used to position the safe from the garage to the 18 wheeler, I am met the morning of movement by 8 guys who look at the safe and assure me "they got this". No pallet jacket, no heavy duty hand truck, they're gonna wish this thing up on the trailer. Oooook. I immediately call the safe guy that had installed it with me about 5 years ago. Says he can be there in a couple hours- cool, so I tell him to come on and watch the action. Time to move the safe. Said 8 expert relocation specialists attempt to move the safe from against the wall. Doesn't budge- shocker. They swear it's full- I open it to reveal a completely empty 1560lb safe. Bottom line, a lot of shrugs and excuses but the safe guy I coordinated for that the moving company assured me wasn't necessary, came through. Upload complete by himself in 10 minutes with an electric hand-truck. Next the movers decide that my flat screen needs to be loaded beside the non-secured safe in the crate...see where that's going? yeah. Claimed it. Unrelated but as comical- relocation specialists decided that 2 guys could lift an XL Big green Egg ceramic grill, end result, new green egg.
Download- Same in reverse, movers assured me they didn't need anyone. Got to the house, opened the crate (restricted TV box aside) realized they couldn't get it off the truck. Back to the warehouse, coordinated with a safe moving company, back out and they used two hydraulic lift jacks on casters and pry bars and parked it exactly where I wanted it in 30 minutes- when we retire it's going to be a trick getting it out of there but it will be possible.
Bottom line, the move was a complete shit show. They were 2 weeks late and continuously strung us along. Whatever, we're settled in, never trust the moving companies./
