Stumbled across this gem today from the original owner. Came out of Fort Yukon, 30 rounds fired + factory test rounds. Sat in this homemade case for 30+ years. Except for some dust, I would rate it at 98% condition.

I don't know much about HK 91s... looking for insight, rarity, and value. Came with everything, including original manual, cleaning kit, warranty card, sling, sales receipt, test target, 6 mags, the ammo pictured, plus four 200rnd Hirtenberger battle packs (not pictured).

What have I got here??

I'll give you $500 for it, right now. I'll even come pick it up.

I'll give you $1k for it

The envy of a shit load of people.

Great find.

I'd say you have more than $2k worth of rifle there with everything mentioned

dude its covered in rust!

Invisible rust, better sell it before it dissolves.
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:29:44 AM EDT
wow.
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:29:56 AM EDT
We have been selling them in that condition between $2,000-$2,500 at work when we get them in.
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:30:51 AM EDT
Well, what did it set you back?
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:31:48 AM EDT
Does it have a 'I love Hornady' switch?
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:33:28 AM EDT
2500+

The stock by itself could bring as much as 4-500, I sold one not long ago. I prefer the fixed stock on my 91.

Nice find. You should clean it up and shoot it.
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:34:10 AM EDT
Please don't tell me it only cost you $1200.

Hell awhile ago I saw some guy selling a HK91 in nowhere near that nice a shape with no accessories at a gun show for $3,000.

I'm not saying he sold it. That's just what his price tag said.
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:42:09 AM EDT
Nice!
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 1:48:57 AM EDT
WTF I can never stumble across shit....

If it was me I would keep and shoot.

HK91A3 with factory bipod, sling, and carry handle.
The 2 Extended mags have some value.
The standard mags have little value these days.
The A3 stock is rarer than the A2 fixed stock so has collector value.
The A2 stock is much more comfortable to shoot especially with extended buttpad.
I think the package price is about $3000, not including ammo.
Prices have remained steady since 2004 AW Sunset.
Price in 1981 for the package was about $900-1000 not including ammo.

What'd you pay?
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 2:20:00 AM EDT
On Gunbroker/Armslist, I have seen asking prices of 4800 for NIB ish.

I haven't seen any sold at that.

I'm guessing you could talk someone out of 3100-3700 if you shined it up a bit.

(Have been wanting one for a while....)

Who would want an old German rifle made out of stamped steel ...
Link Posted: 4/19/2016 3:11:18 AM EDT
Nice barn find OP.

You did well for sure. That is a nice complete kit you got for the 91. You also have some of those franken mag 30 rounders that were welded together.

This.

Awesome in a box!

During the ban days she would have been at least $3K IMO. The sunsetting of the ban has had an interesting effect on pre-ban prices: while your HK is no less rare, there are now substitutes so the prices have softened somewhat. Then there is the pre-ban state effect.

Great find whatever it ends up being worth...and why don't things like that ever happen to me?

They were $525 for the rifle alone when the ban went into effect.

I was curious what the sales receipt was when the gun was bought 30+ years ago.

Rifle's also got the carry handle and ejection port buffer installed.

About the only thing missing is the bayonet.

About two years ago I sold my bare A2 for $2800. That should go for at least that much.

The rifle package itself is now easily over $3k.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I tried selling a package like that, actually found it hard to do. With all the stuff I had the package price was close to $5k. Put the package out of reach of most people.

You're better off selling the rifle and a couple of basic accessories together (rifle/bayonet/mags), then parting out the rest. I found I got more interest (and therefore more money) that way.

Gunbroker is your friend on this.

No responses from OP?

Troll thread?

The HK A3 stock. Separating men from Eunuchs since 1962 (or whenever).

buncha nancys. The A3 stock is fine to shoot with.

OP- don't remove the port buffer or the carry handle. Removing/reinstalling leads to scratches that lessens the value. They add around $50 to the value if the receiver isn't scratched up by them.

Right now, the bipods are in the $200 range alone.

The 30 round mag is the South African type, $60-75

The steel mags are $6-10 each

I agree that the rifle is on the high side of $2500. A fired case will show sharpness of the fluting indicating a low wear barrel.

Lucky find and there is no way personally I could bring myself to sell it.
