I just got a $1400 check from the VA, and am looking to spend it on toys.

I have been looking at a S&W .460XVR, Kimber Eclipse Target II, and couple of other toys.

I allready have a couple of 1911s (one is a TLE-II), and have other big bore revolvers, just not the 460.  I like the fact that it has backward compatibility with 454 casull and 45 colt.  I have never owned a smith and wesson revolver before, my other big bores are Freedom Arms revolvers.

I figure I could get that .460 and another handgun, like an XD 9mm, for well under that cost, at the local shop (he has both in stock).

Any opinions, or other suggestions?

I don't know about you but I am planning on making a big purchase tomorrow.  My first AR-15 (a 16" A3 Bushmaster) and a Mossberg 590 with ghost rings.  Plus about $700 of ammo, mags, and other accessories.

My only Smith and Wesson is their 1911 (which I love) so I recommend that you pick up that .460!

Get a S&W Model 41 if you haven't already done so, IMO.

Underfolder AK, mags and ammo.  Whoa, did I just say that?

Model 41?  Isnt that a 22 LR pistol?  I might be interested, but I allready have two 22 pistols, kind of looking for something a little bigger bore, and at least one thing new.

This is the exact 460 that the local shop has in their stock -

Who here as shot a 460?  And what is it like compared to a 454 casull?

I know he also has a Springfield Armory GI .45 1911 for $400, and I think that I could get both that and the 460 with no problem.

Any opinions on those 1911s?

The exact one is this color -

That's like saying, "Don't buy a Ferrari as I already own two Chevys."

Still, no thanks.  I dont shoot 22 LR much anyways, no sense in buying that one (however nice it may be).

This is what I ended up getting though - $1075 dollars out the door, for everything in the picture.  The 460 was New, in box, along with some ammo for it, and I got the 45 ACP for other .45 autos that I own.

if you already have a 1911.  I would highly recomend one of the XD's then you will NOT be disapointed.  I traded my glock 22 in for my first XD and never looked back.

along with a comptac holster you will be set

doh too late

Hookers & Booze!

Seriously, the XD is a good choice.

Thanks for the suggestions on the XD, but I am just going to wait until payday, and pick up a NIB Sig P226 with night sights, that he said he would sell me for $625.  I figure that would be a nice one to get back into 9mm (I got rid of my other 9mm handguns about a year ago - both ruger p89).

Anyone know of a good IWB holster for that 460
