My brother in law called me from Cabelas today asking what I thought of the FN 5.7 pistol...I said I didn't know much about it and that I would ask here on ARFCOM.  He is considering buying it....what do yall think of it?  I think he would plan on it for a CCW.  (I don't think I ever would, but that is just me)

I want one

You'll have started a flame war between the 5.7 round's effectiveness as a defensive round.  Have fun.

Edit: that said I wouldn't feel uncomfortable carrying one as CCW.  20+1 in the gun plus however many mags you want.  He will need a P90 or AR57 to go with it.

If Sarah Brady says you don't need it, then you DO need it.

Having seen one, the only opinion I have is with the ammo being supersonic, it isn't worth buying if I can't suppress it, and if I can’t suppress it I’m not buying it.

Did I say that right?

Is 5.7 just .22mag is the thread that replaced 9mm vs .45

Lets not start anoughter one

and just for the record.

I would rather be shot by a 22mag than a 5.7x28

I like mine so far... haven't made it to the range yet. No range funds at the moment.

CMMG killed at least one deer with it.

Also, it's flat and accurate as get out. I like it, but ammo cost right now is a big issue for me. Hence why I own a 9mm. Can't hit anything if you can't practice.

love my 5-7 but ammo cost is prohibitive. half the cost to shoot  my .45 USP but man that 5-7 is a blast to shoot, kinda big though for a CCW, almost as big as my full size USP

I had to buy one because the VPC and 60 Minutes told me how dangerous they were.
