Here is a page about it:

hkpro.com/pdw.htm

The .17 HMR thread got me thinking about this. The ballistics of HK’s new gun in 4.6x30mm are very similar to those of the .17 HMR.

The 4.6x30mm is an FMJ, so it will have better penetration than Ballistic Tip .17 HMR rounds. However, it is still a non-expanding round only .18” in diameter. With the poor performance of non-fragmenting 5.56x45 (.224” in diameter), it is difficult for me to think anything positive about the terminal performance of this round.

What do you think?

Not that it matters because we won't be able to buy one anyhow, but it looks weird as hell. I have no clue about that cartridge. It doesn't look like it would work too well as a pistol and even worse as a carbine. Anyone around here with some info. on this cartridge would be much appreciated. Seems like a pretty damn dinky round for defense, too... Just my .02 Juice Out

HK has FN envy, and is making a P90 substitute... IMHO, .223 is the smallest viable pistol/smg/SBR round available at present...

.223 is useles out of barrels short of 10 inches, and marginal until about 14, unless you use polygonal rifling.
