It looks like it would be a fast, flat shooting round, and it's relatively inexpensive.  Other than the fact that it looks painfully complicated to reload, is this a decent pistol round or not?

Mag Safe makes a 52gr load that goes 2100 FPS...

I found some Czech military ammo for my CZ52 that is loaded nice and hot. Great round! As flat ballistically as .30 Mauser or 7.65 Luger, but a lot cheaper and easier to get. BTW, .30 Mauser ammo will fit in the Tok chambered guns, but the Tok ammo should never be used in a .30 Mauser pistol. And yeah, only feed the hot stuff to the CZ52, the roller lock will hold it, not so sure about a mere Tok will hold up to it.

.30 TOK is another round that has tremendous reloaders potential. Take a looksee at the new Accurate reloading manual and they were getting 1972fps with 85gr rn sierras.

I find the Czech mil surplus Tok ammo in small lots, 8 or 10 boxes at a time, at gun shows, as it hasn't been imported for a while.
Small white boxes, dated 52 through 54.
Some of the bullets appear to be steel core, as they suck right up to a magnet. [:D]

.223 Timbs!!!!!!

This round is made for the CZ it is a copy of the .224 boz. It is a sabboted 55 grain .223. It shoots over 2000 fps! They have a fmj loading and a soft tip.

Now I am trying to figure out how to make my own

Interesting. I have thought about trying to load standard saboted 5.56 rounds into the .30tok. The problem is that the rounds may exceed the max OAL and obviously with a diminished case capacity a fast powder like Bullseye may have to be used. Anyone try to load their own?

I am gonna try.I think am going to buy a box of the .223 timbs that is for sale. Then pull the bullet and get the wt of the charge. Then I figure I can match up the load with another load in a book.

Do you think that will work?

The .357 sig will approximate this performance with a larger bullet and a modern weapon. Note that .357 sig is rated 40,000 psi SAAMI and most published data is well below this. Get a .40 s&w barrel for cheap shooting and reload the .357 sig for hypervelocity adventure and fun. Glocks are a favorite and are a good match for a .223 black rifle.
