A nice write-up on a program that competes with gangs for leadership in the community. 1000 students in 7 years in the program.

Aside from JROTCs, Young Marines and Sea Cadets are two other great youth programs.

CAP steered a lot of young men into the Marines, myself included. After a few summers at an AFB, you yearn for a real challange in the service. The day you figure out you, a high school cadet, are harder charging then the air persons is a real wake-up. Mine was in 10th grade.
