I joined a couple of online matching services. I must be a fucking Troll extraordinaire because I haven't gotten [b]one[/b] response to the multitude of e-mails I have sent out. It's been weeks since sending them too. I haven't even gotten an "I'm not interested". Even a "Piss off" message would be better than nothing. The standard for an "average" build must have changed. Alot of the women claiming to have an "average" build are pretty overweight. [b]BITCHES![/b] Maybe I should stop playing pitcher and start playing catcher. Nudge! Nudge! Wink! Wink! [shock]

i've often wondered how many of the adds on those service might be fake. it seems as if there is a ton of room for exploitation in that area.

most of the services i've seen allow a free search to join, but then ask payment to provide a "contact". the adds that come up in the search often look good, but could be fake, old, or who knows what.

i hope your experience improves. at this point, i'd say it is too soon to think it has anything to do with your looks or personality. and i do think the internet can be a great tool for meeting someone. i'm just unsure of what the best way might be.

I signed on for a few of those a while back.  Like you I found mostly "dogs" and LARGE sizes!  The average or better women were just like anywhere else - money hungry and extremely self centered.  

I DID get a few responses but none ever led to a meeting.  A few e-mails was enough to find they were even crazier than me!

Me thinks you pick sorry personals to deal with...  You have to remember that these woman are being bombarded with emails an a daily basis...  Try AOL personal once... I save the ones I like in favorites.

One I saved I wrote an email a year later to. Her ad was no longer there, but I had her email.
She told me she was sometimes getting 50 emails a day, and it was overwhelming...  We actually became good friends, but She was looking for a husband like right now...YIKES!!!  She is married now...

My friends have used these services, and even the pay-site and voicemail/messageboard and dating services. Seems like the men pay, and the women get to use the service free, to encourage them to use the service.

Some services guarantee dates, but only give you the contact information, and its up to you to secure a date. If you fail, you are out the money!

Most of the ads seem to be fake. A lot of them lie about their weight and looks (but not all of them lie). I also think that the sites make up fake ads with good looking women, to encourage men to pay to be on the site. If you notice, most of the members end up being men.... I guess it depends on the service and screening. (I remember on one site, my friend was showing me that the pictures of some of the women were scanned from a catalog-- they didn't remove the letters that referenced different garments!)


On a side note:
Ever notice how women can wear make-up, pad their bra, wear a wig, etc., then claim they never lied to you?

umm, despite what advertisement might tell you, namely that internet/TV/mass media personals networks are not just for losers but for busy people who simply don't have time to date, I remain unconvinced. If you really are that busy to date then you are a loser. If you can't get a date you are a loser. Bottomline, quit losers.com and get a real date. (no offense to you personally, but consider, what is the motivation for a good looking, nice and non-transvestite female to post personal ads on the internet other than a joke?) There are too many good men in the real world for a normal female to expose her email and contact information to a bunch of seedy freaks on the internet.

Yeah, online dating is pretty much worthless.

I did the "classifieds2000.com" thing on and off (admittedly mostly 'off') for about three years.  The ones who replied invariably were seriously messed up -- I know, I know, ALL women are, but these were much worse than usual. [:p]

We're talkin' blimps with illegitimate kids whose personalities were so f*cked up that it was amazing they had managed to get anyone to get them pregnant in the first place.  I mean, really, "tits by Goodyear" are ok, but entire bodies?  "Ok, dear, you're a 'wiccan [s]nudist[/s]naturist' on welfare??  (But should you really be subjecting other people to 400 pounds of blubbery stretch marks?)"

I have met exactly one woman through a personals ad who was NOT on the extreme-f*cked-up end of the spectrum, and she had no interest in pursuing anything.

The "Russian brides" thing has a better chance of success IMHO, but it's still pretty small.  At least you'd be getting laid by women with decent bodies, though, even if their end goal is to steal every dime you've got (about 50%, it seems).

There are a lot of scams, both the "send money" type and the "two years and goodbye" type.  But all of the ones I know personally (3 or 4, depending on how you count one of them) have worked out.

This is why you (1) never send money until you've gotten to know the woman very well, and (2) have to go live there for a while (at least a few months) so you can get to know her very well. . . .

I've been averaging 2 dates/week through Match.com over the last 2 months. Weak dates really...meet for a drink or two. Most of the time you or they just want to bail immediately. Yes, some girls stretch the "petite" adjective, and some are real headcases.

I've been nailing one for about a month now. Not the prettiest thing, but she owns her own handgun. [:D]
