This morning when I walked onto my porch with my rifle slung, I saw that my front yard was clear, but when I looked behind my house I saw a demon looking at me as he stood under my old Tahoe. I turned and used the concealment of my porch as I hit the bolt release, then thumbed the round home with the F/A. I was afraid that I would soon be running and shooting in my Keen sandals as these devils are wily and seem to know when to run. I was fortunate this time, and he was still there. I quickly centered my reticle on his upper chest and dispatched him.
I also learned that there may be people, or perhaps a person, in my house that is able to sleep through a gunshot fired from the front porch with the door open. |

And you try to run but he's got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head And then you're in the man from Mars You go out at night eating cars You eat Cadillacs Lincolns too Mercurys and Subaru And you don't stop, you keep on eating cars |

I've used a lot of different methods to fight rust, but never that one.

Woodchucks eat cars?
Well why not I guess, they eat everything else |
|
While I was deployed one time one ate through 20-30 wires at the top of my Hondas engine bay. My neighbor went to assist a person that lives in my house and found him under the hood. He is a fantastic neighbor and spliced the harness back together.

I can't bring myself to shot the ones around here, they had too much fun in the apple trees last year and they kept the dogs entertained. Helps when they actually live in the neighbors yard. If you look close you'll see 2 in the tree.

Fail! Bullit not already in chamber. If that had been a rabbid wood chucker waiting to ambush you, well... You coulda been deaded or had your testicals or nipple gnawed off.

Muskrat; they consider boat wiring a delicacy also.
Until the 22LR arrives! |

say what? View Quote One pulled that on an uncle while we were bailing hay. Problem was the tree was only about 7' tall, so Uncle Fred grabbed a hammer from under the seat, walked over and smacked the vile critter on the grape. The older Fat 'Chucks have a harder time, but the younger ones are surprisingly quick at climbing. |

Silly me for thinking I entered a thread about killing porcupines, the animal people usually associate with car eating.
Never heard of a ground hog eating anything related to a car. |

I had just restored a 1980 Jeep J10 and had it stored in my lean to for a few weeks. Damn woodchuck ate a hole in the upper radiator hose [brand new, unmistakable chew marks] Decided to drive it to church one morning, what fun.........I was talking to a gal afterwards and had it running when she asked me what was all the yellow stuff running down the asphalt. Always carry some electrical tape and aluminum duct tape [not the crappy cloth junk] and cleaned the hose off, taped it up and limped it home. I had known there was a woodchuck wandering around but never figured the bugger would go after my truck. His life was shortened abruptly by a 40 grain blitz 5.56 round soon afterwards. View Quote |

Here it is rats.
3 times this year rats have chewed up the engine wiring harness in my Tacoma. They get under the intake manifold and feast on the coolant temp, knock sensor and cam angle sensor wires. A replacement engine harness is $4,500 new. They also got the knock sensor harness in our Lexus. That repair was over $1,500. Started parking with the hood up, they stopped then started doing it again. Started leaving a drop light under the open hood, they stopped for a while then started again. At this point I am out of ideas. I have bait stations, traps, etc and have killed probably 30 of them during pellet rifle rat safaris in my backyard. |
