I purchased a Soviet army poster at a garage sale many years ago.  I have searched the net and still cannot find any informaiton about it.

Since I can't read Russian, the most info I can give is a description and the date.  It was made in 1983.

There is a formation of troops at the bottom carring what looks like actual AK-47's.  The mags don't appear to be ribbed and there is no compensator of any kind on the barrels.

Background has some SAM's (SA-6's?) and Mig-21's.

I don't have a pic of it, but I will post it tomorrow.

Anyone here collect this stuff, or have any idea where else to look?  I might take up to the language dept at UT to see if they will translate the writing for me.

Thanks.

It says the same thing as every other soviet army poster :

                          "Join The RED Army!
                                                  Sign-up TODAY!"

"See your local Red Army recruter, Hippy, College prof., Union Thug,
or Democrat Party HQ for details!"

SLAVA SOVIETSKEEM VORUSHYEKNIM SEELAM!

Basic translation of Cyrillic to English.  I can't seem to find my Russian English dictionary or I would be more helpful.

I just knew that someone would give me crap about that.  They are in the computer/man room and I had nothing else to put on the shelf.  The better looking books are in the public places.  BTW, I have started a bit of an amature collection of books, old medical text etc.  I just like having them on the self.

Thanks for the info on the poster everyone.  I always liked the smirking fella and then two over one fella looks like he is just trying his best to be tough.  Looks like early 60's type stuff though.

it reads "Glory to the Soviet Military Forces"

technically that one word is "armed" not "military, but yes

Armed Forces means the same thing as military forces
