I quit smoking!!

After smoking KOOLs for about 12 years, I quit cold turkey one year ago as a gift to my girlfriend and myself.

It's hard to believe how hard it still is sometimes to not smoke. I'm wondering if the craving will ever go away.

I've had 2 cigars, though, and a little puff off of one of bratty's cloves, but that's it.[:D]

...just wanted to share...

Congrats on the 1 year!

Keep the will power!  I have several friends who are smokers, and sometimes I don't want to be around them because of the smoke.

I've never smoked, so I have no idea what you're going through with the cravings, but I'm sure you'll end up with a better life by staying strong.

Way to go TREETOP I've never smoked but my inlaws do, and it makes it hard to be around them. My grandfather died of lung cancer when I was 8 years old. Maybe your grandchildren won't have to say that one day!!

Congrats !  Keep it up...  Stay Alive [smoke]

I have never smoked but my folks did before giving the habit up in their 40's. I had asthma as a kid and that shit nearly killed me.

My dad quit smoking 3 packs of Camels a day at 34 years old, just before I was born.
He had cravings right up to the day he died at 73 years of age. But he never ever lit one up.

Congratulations Treetop!

I quit around the end of Feb 2000, and still have cravings every day.  I have been told they will never go away, but I know I can live without those things.
For anyone out there who wants to quit, but can't seem to, I tried cold turket three times.  The last time I made it six days w/out a smoke, but felt so on edge I was afraid i would kill someone!  I had just gotten out of the Infantry 2 months before, so I definatley knew how to[:d]
When I made up my mind to try again, I used Zyban.  One or two hard days (the wife claims I was a real @sshole that weekend) and I have not had on since.  TRY IT!!

CONGRATS!!!

My first real job was working for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company in Durham, NC.  If a smoker could see what gets put into cigarettes they would never smoke again!! [puke]

Congratulations.
Just think of how much ammo you could have bought with the money of your 12 years of smoking.

Congrats man.  only 6 more years till you get pink lungs.

And whats with African American???

Maybe I am just stupid but isn't that an oxymoron.  I dont belive you can call yourself that.  To anyone who can I ask you where you were born.  If it was the US then you are an American if not the you can call yourself that.

This race crap really gets on my nerves.  Maybe I should go find that pet peeves string.
