poll coming |
IBTP
My job? Probably a 4. Add on school, family obligations...other activies. 9.5 |
4... only because of my boss. If she wasn't my boss, it'd be a 1.
I voted for a 1-2 because there wasn't a zero. The biggest stress is making it through the day without falling asleep. I've got way too much talent, skills, and abilities ... my boss doesn't give me any projects.
I was at an 8, but now at a -5.
I hope to get it back up to at least a 6. |
stress is relative. your level 5 is different than my level 5. Some people handle it better, some worse.
i'm a computer tech. it varies from 1-10 depending on the day. last week was a 10.
9-10 cuz i work with govy houseing,, got 25cent raise even tho im the only guy in my AO,, and i have kid onthe way in feb, lostt he 1st 2 ,lost my very close grandmother 6 months ago,,my apt, and cars in the canes,,, ect ect,,, how sthat fer stress,,,,, OH and my fkin credit/debit account was locked cuase a list of account numbers where comrpomised and the bank locked them down......
now all i need is a plane from the local avation school to crash in my lap while i sit here! that good enuff! |
8 months out of the year I am at about a 4. 4 months out of the year I run around a 12.5
A 4 most of the time.
A 7 last week when i was working 12 hours every night and spending 4-8 hours in court during the day, trying to catch a couple hours sleep in between. |
I voted 1-2, but my job is a 0.
How stressful is it to sit at my desk and surf ARFCOM? |
Most of the time 1, on occasion 10 though. They pay me for what I am prepaired to do not necessarily what I do.
Usually a 3, but occasionally 8, due to shitty, old, rattletrap equipment.
Nurse here, my job goes from 1-2 to 11 in the blink of an eye.
I go to sleep at night wondering when the next mortor is gonna come onto the base. Granted its been quite awhile but I think about it all the time. Nothing you can do.
averages about a 7, but can swing wildly from as low as 5 to as high as 9.5
That's why only you can vote your own level in the poll. So it makes no difference if its your 5 or my 5; it is subjective, and so the poll works like majic. We are scientists, after all. |
After the management change? About a 3. Before? An 11. Amazing what having one idiotic dickhead for a boss can do.
Woody |
I cant use that scale if the lower #'s equal boring.
I love my job |
Eustress or distress??
Here is what I do: Motorcycle Police Officer Traffic Homicide Investigator Instructor in Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle, Submachine gun, SIMUNITION, and Shoot House SWAT Sniper It keeps me very busy, but because I love doing it all, my stress level is not very high. My boss gives me more grief than all others combined. |
1
Get to play around taking my time building guns. Every now and again play around in the machine shop tinkering with something. Love it. |
1 75% of the time
10 25% Flight Sergeant for a very very good flight. When things run well, its a walk in the park. But for the next two weeks its going to be an 11. |
I'm not trying to be rude, but how stressful and how hard is the job of a business school prof. I go to a top ranked school for accounting and finance and I don’t see my profs working too terribly hard. Perhaps there is a side I don’t see. |

I work at a restaurant that has been opened for almost a year. 3 of the 4 owners, if you combined their restaurant know-how and ability, you wouldnt equal the 1/2 of the ability of any given employee in the restaurant.
The servers and bussers manage the front of the restaurant. No lie. I hate it, |
normally, I'd go with a 1-2, during my on call week(every 6 weeks). definately a 9-10
Western Sahara? WTF kind of country code is that? |
Voted 3-4.
It's usually a 2, but during times when the schools are out (Summer, Christmas Break, Spring Break) more like an 8. |
11.
Everyday I go into work, someone is trying to die, and I'm trying to help them to keep living. |
Which job?
Volunteer Firefighter: 8 when actually doing calls, negative numbers for the rest of what I do with them. Army National Guard: 5 on most drill weekends but can go a lot higher depending on what we're doing Nurse: Overall about an 8 |
I'm a teacher, I love my job and I love planning my classes.
I have one class that is difficult. They don't seem to have fun and are very oppositional, but other than that... it's fun to come into work. I don't like most other teachers and keeping quiet about that is sometimes a challenge (some are truly crazy, some are just lazy). And the NEA, don't get me started.... I love my supervisor, he is very supportive of what I do with the kids and he doesn't micro manage me. I would say I'm a 2 or 3. |
Dude!! We work at the same place!! My job can go from 1 to 10 in any given day. Luckily, it's usually much closer to 1. Back when my idiotic dickhead of a boss was still there, it never fell below about 6. Now we're (as a group) enjoying low stress, while performing at the highest level since I've been there - about 8 years. My current boss is wise enough to let us do what we do and the guys that work for me no longer have to wonder how to deal with me on a daily basis. Not that I was one to let shit roll down hill, but sometimes it's unavoidable when the idiotic dickhead made policy that forced it. |

I work in the busiest transmission shop in the Midwest. I have to orchestrate everything.
I'm the sales guy, order all the parts, get stuff done on time. Make sure the customer leaves happy. It is controlled kaos every day. |
As a nursing supervisor it's either 2-3 or 7-8. It takes alot of energy to keep these 23 year old nurses from killing somebody.
