Oleg makes terrible photographs that are quite frankly weird and make gun owners look as such. They're going to be off putting to anyone who isn't completely in the gun camp not to mention the ridiculous hyperbole in this one.

If Obama is not up for election, and he is not actively talking about gun control, what is the point?

I am more concerned about Cap and Tax than I am about a gun ban.

If they pass cap and trade legislation, they'll ban guns by default, because not a single one of us will be left with enough money to even purchase ammo.

I'll call this image a 'swing and a miss'...

I could see that having a bit of relevance back during the campaign when there were comments about renewing the AWB on Obama's website.

But so far he has pretty much left the gun control issue alone.

Agreed.

I have no doubt that Obama & Co. would push to ban all guns if they thought they could do so.

However, they have let the matter drop since learning the lessons of 1994, 2000, and the SCOTUS decisions that have come down since. They know gun control is damaging (at this time) to their wider socialist agenda, and have largely decided to let it lie.

Save it for when they're actually ready to do something. Tilting at windmills that aren't currently spinning, or even being used just dilutes the message.

Yeah, pretty much. Obama has been decidedly "hands off" of gun control. We all know that, right?

I'm sure he'd love nothing more than to take our guns, we know he would, but he's obviously decided it's a no-win battle and is going for populist changes (healthcare, social programs).

I don't think Obama cares one way or another about guns, at least in the sense that it's not even near the top of his priorities. I'm sure if they had a good opportunity do do that, they would, but it's not on his agenda.

I don't doubt for a second that Obama and crew would push for more gun control if there were enough votes and little political repercussions. However, Obama has a long list of objectives that he wants to accomplish and a steadily decreasing amount of political capital in which to pass these things. Gun control just isn't

popular and it would burn up a lot political capital to pass ineffective bills like the AWB. They want to pass things like Cap and Trade which will have a much greater effect on American society and maybe (in their distorted reality) engender support for their party in the future. Gun control is still on the list but it is near the

bottom. I can definitely see him bringing it up if he gets a second term but the legislature will be more conservative in character. I do agree that the Oleg picture falls a little flat since Obama really hasn't pushed for any gun control.

Obama has little power to do anything with gun control if he wanted to. He has no support in Congress and never really did. As an outsider, the most he has been able to do is take credit for Pelosi's health care bill. Those Congressmen know full fucking well what another anti-gun bill will do to their party, Obama doesn't have the political capital to make it happen.

I think that once the Democrats don't have both houses there will be more gun control brought.  Reason being is that they will now have the boogie man (i.e. Republicans) to blame for not passing sweeping gun control regulation.

They also have to rally their supporters for 2012 so I'm sure that part of that will be saying how Republicans won't do anything about the Mexican gun situation.  They probably won't drop that aspect of it.
