I was at my unit's monthly training deal, and the place we were doing it had a cafeteria. In there they had this game....

It was the shizzle back in the day. Not exactly Modern Warfare Ghost Recon SOCOM II Counterstrike, but still a lot of fun.

Spent a lot of quarters on Centipede too - I still wince when I remember getting pinched by the trackball.  That fuckin thing could draw blood!

OMG, I forgot that game existed let alone in arcade form.

Man, that brings back the memories. I actually gasped when I saw the photo.

Do yourself a favor and watch "King of Kong" on Netflix. It is the most unintentionally hysterical documentary  that I have ever seen, about  these dudes that have never left the early 1980's.

It is loaded with awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K7wpatALDQ

I was in an arcade with some friends when they rolled in the Defender games. Never had heard of them.

We popped in tokens, and got 99 credits. After a couple of hours the owner noticed the same guys playing the same machines for too long, and spoiled our fun.

I was thinking of this one before I even clicked on this thread.  They had this on a console at the Pasquales pizza place I use to go to as a kid.  I use to just sit and watch it.

I was an arcade junkie from the time I was 5 all teh way up until I was in college.... I couldn't get enough.
Fan freaking tastic.... I remember ALL the old ones, they have the fondest memories for me. (I was born in 74,
so the early 80's were pure WIN).

I miss the 80's and being a kid.

Star Castle was one of my early generation favorites.

I never cared much for Donkey Kong, but Donkey Kong Jr. was great fun.

I got so good at Galaga that I could guarantee at least 600,000 points a game, and never lose that bet.

THEN I learned the cheat...and you can pretty much forget about it past that point.    The score counter was

mine to manipulate as I pleased.   I played until I got bored.

Defender was great but I never got all that good at it.   Once the planet blew up,  I was good for a couple of seconds and that's all she wrote.
Robotron was definitely an under-rated classic.  Same goes for Joust.   I got fairly good at Joust.

Centipede...now there's a classic.  I usually held the top score on the local machines.
