True but given the ancient history of the hippie movement....rebellion,spontaneity,impulsive,rude,rule breaking were some of the hallmarks of the hippie movement....

eg Jerry Rubin's "Steal This Book"

They dished it out and now they can't take it....

They have those "Rainbow Gatherings" in Ocala Nat'l Forest. The thefts go up markedly when they are there. If we go riding when they are there we will only park our car at the ranger station parking lot.

Stinky patchouli smelling assholes.

Hippy rules do apply though:

4. He who holds the staff is the leader of the tribe and his authority, or vision, must not be questioned.

Enforcement officers gonna enforce , doesn't matter what they smell like.

Uniforms might be different but we've all seen the same attitude.

And the sign said, "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said, "You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do"
So I took off my hat, I said, "Imagine that, huh, me workin' for you"
Whoa, oh, oh.

Rainbow people are a one step removed from aboriginal people and have their own government.
Those people in the car are part of the problem too.

Why do you want to park among people who don't want you around?

Were their demands really so bad and incompatible with the family plans that it was necessary to construct a confrontation to make a video of the event?

Why would you risk your families safety to fuck with the hippies in a forest ...? HIs mother and father may not have been who they said they were. Was he dropped on his head at an early age and a never recovered fully from the brain damage?

So, cool, lets go fuck with the old hippies minding their own business ...and then post the video on youtube. Talent unlimited right there.

Yes sir the red diaper babies parlayed the religion of their communist parents into the fungus of the 60s anti war movement.

SDS,Weathermen,Yippies,as well as the civil rights movement....

Their legacy is now the leftwing morality now dominating our institutions & it's pervasive among the social liberals of the so called conservative party...

The "rainbow gatherings" are a cancer. The last time they came around these parts they committed so many crimes (shoplifting and other theft) that law enforcement had to set up a mobile courthouse for a judge to deal with all of the cases.

Ok ...anyone who would willingly and knowingly take their family into a "Rainbow Gathering" is either looking to experience the festival atmosphere and participate in events or looking for trouble when they decide to confront the organizers with non-compliance.

When you take the family to the ballgame or to any other organized event you comply with rules in place for parking at the event, right? So now that you're out in a national forest at an organized and permitted event it becomes ok to be non-compliant ...even important to construct a confrontation meant to humiliate event organizers at the risk of personal safety for yourself, your family and the organizers. Smart move.

Leave the old hippies alone. They went out into the forest, far away, to party among themselves. If you want to party with them, do so by their rules of participation. If you don't want to go by their rules at their party, go party somewhere else by your rules. Easy stuff. You'll appreciate this as you age and young revelers arrive to disrupt your time and space.

Looked (and sounded) like he was there to participate in the event. He wanted to unload his stuff there then go park down the hill. Did you see all the crap on his roof? Can you imagine dragging all that crap up a hill? Why couldn't the old guy just let him off load and then park like he said he was going to? The old guy was confrontational and belligerent from the start. He quickly escalated to physical when the car driver was nothing but polite.

I guess they just don't make hippies like they used to.

Interesting choice of words: "construct a confrontation." Driver was polite. BTW, this is a state/national park. Last time I checked "hippies" aren't rangers and thus can't tell a member of the public what to do/not do. Also, you assumed that this was the old hippies area and that this younger driver was somehow doing something illegal. And you wrote that the young driver meant to "humiliate" the older, aggressive, assaulting hippy? LOL. That is a delusional statement. I almost think I'm being trolled.

How do you know that the hippies were "far away" to party among themselves? The older, belligerent (appearing to be intoxicated) hippy was on a power trip, period. He's lucky he didn't get checked.

Just so I understand. The Hippies have decided that the rules of society don't apply to them and created their own rules. Is that correct? And I'm suppossed to obey the hippy rules? Sounds reasonable.

I think that you need to look up "Rainbow Family Gathering".

It is not an organized event, it's a bunch of hippies squatting on public land. Nobody has any authority there.

I remember them doing an event back in the 70's in AZ. I was in a restaurant with my parents and suddenly all these hippies came in pan handling. Then they just waited around and as people left they would sit at their tables and eat any food that they left on their plates.

As crazy as it is yes.
Those the rainbow people have a legal and lawful relationship with the federal government. Very similar to the Boy Scouts. They put up a deposit and are assigned space.
The feds issue a permit for their scheduled events and the hippies have duties that pertain to crowd control , parking, sanitary facilities water, wear and tear, clean up , trash removal, reseeding.
Its a pretty detail agreement. At the big gatherings they have forward teams and rear guard to ensure proper prep and clean up.

They were banned from the parks dor a couple years in the 90s due to the damage they caused. They sued and won the right to meet as long as they maintain the compromise agreement.

So yes you should listen to the stinky hippy cop kinda like you would a Boy Scout at the annual jamboree.

First you have to assume that a civil agreement with the Park Service authorizes someone who reserves space in a public park to use force against someone who enters that reserved space. (Hint: It doesn't.)

Diabetes Claus committed assault, plain and simple. Replace Claus with uniformed security? Still assault. Replace public property with private? Still assault. Trespass laws allow you to remove someone from property under your legal control, not to kick the shit out of them for simply being there. The degree of justifiable force can legally escalate, sure, but not along the lines of what we actually saw in the video.

Not that it matters: I'd be willing to bet that everyone in that video is what you might call "judgment proof", and wouldn't be too terribly put out over a misdemeanor charge or two.
