Whenever I click a link to open a new page (window) it is small and I have to click the maximize button (the sqaure).  How can I set windows so that links are automatically maximized?

Right click on the icon you use to open Internet Explorer and go to properties.  Where it says "run" switch to Maximize.  Close all IE windows and reopen.

Also, Windows "remembers" your last window size that is not maximized.
A good work-around is to open just one window, then expand the borders to maximum size "manually" by grabbing the borders on each side with your mousse.
Then clsoe your window.
The next one you open should be that same size.

What happened was you closed a pop-up window that was small, last.
That saved that size as your window size.
