. . . trying to remember the title and author of a book I had to read in high school.  For some reason, I think it was Hemmingway, but I'm not sure.  



The story was set in Shanghai, China during a war, the people's revolution maybe.  Yeah, I know that's not a lot to go on, but, I guess I'm getting old.

Empire of the Sun by J.G. Ballard?

I think that may be it, but I'm not sure.  I'll have to check it out.
