Ok, I was driving south from Gainesville, FL and took a shortcut over to I-75 just south of Orange Lake, FL and saw a large radar installation just North of the road. It was set back about 1/2 a mile and consisted of a crescent shaped lattice radar on top of an orange and white tower, maybe 100 feet tall.

Google Earth coordinates are:

37 25' 19.1" N
122 05' 06" W

fixed:

29 24' 55.04" N
82 13' 56.31" W

FAA and NWS do not show radar there and there is no airport within 20 miles. Any idea whose radar this is?

Hang on, gotta run and see where that helicopter noise is coming from.....

You gave the coordinates to Google HQ. Could you be looking at a PAVE/PAWS installation?

Eh, my web-fu is weak today. See corrections above.

No, definitely not a PAVE/PAWS.

the pictures on google maps don't look that interesting...
sure it's not a radio station or something?

if it were anything cool it would be phased array... like PAVE PAWS

Nah, the lattice on top of the tower rotates at about 60-90 rpm. It looks like your basic 2D air search radar, but, if so, why there?
